Tenacious_Peaches
I know that Kevin didn't mean any harm by starting this thread, he just wanted us to have our own party. It just upset me to see Dick in such a bad condition. I guess I'm the thread killer tonight, huh? Sorry.
Elvish
It's okay, Peachy. Just the Georgia beer getting to you. Actually, I was having a dig at Paul. Don't feel too bad for Dick, he was much worse off this time last year. Wasn't on Rockin' Eve for the first time in decades, I reckon. Forgive me Kev, but I'm going to edit the title of your thread. There were some pretty horrible viewing options this year for New Year's celebrations other than Mr. Clark.
Elvish
AULD LANG SYNE Words adapated from a traditional song by Rabbie Burns (1759-96) Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And auld lang syne? CHORUS: For auld lang syne, my dear, For auld lang syne, We'll tak a cup of kindness yet, For auld lang syne! And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp, And surely I'll be mine, And we'll tak a cup o kindness yet, For auld lang syne! We twa hae run about the braes, And pou'd the gowans fine, But we've wander'd monie a weary fit, Sin auld lang syne. We twa hae paidl'd in the burn Frae morning sun till dine, But seas between us braid hae roar'd Sin auld lang syne. And there's a hand my trusty fiere, And gie's a hand o thine, And we'll tak a right guid-willie waught, For auld lang syne No wonder everyone just mumbles the lyrics or drunkenly yells ones that don't make sense
miamisammy29
I turned on Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve show ten minutes before midnight. He's been very sick and he looked and sounded terrible. The poor thing. Poor Dick Clark? Poor Mariah Carey! The poor slut has such an inferiority complex since "the Jetering" that she feels compelled to brush her hair aside every two minutes so that everyone can get a good look at her new boobs. Very nice boobs they are...but does she really need to make it obvious to everyone that they're store-bought? If you watched even part of the show, you'd know exactly what I'm talking about. Earth-Angel
Did she do her wailing version of Jazz hands? I hate it when she does that. Fortunatley I did miss the show!

miamisammy29
A lot of them seem to that nowadays, like Aguilera and a couple more that don't come to mind right now. Why do they do it? I don't know. It can't possibly help them to sing better. Wow, that woman has big, manly hands.

Elvish
U2 ~ "New Year's Day" Yeah... All is quiet on New Year's Day A world in white gets underway I want to be with you Be with you night and day Nothing changes on New Year's Day On New Year's Day I will be with you again I will be with you again Under a blood red sky A crowd has gathered in black and white Arms entwined, the chosen few The newspapers says, says Say it's true it's true... And we can break through Though torn in two We can be one I...I will begin again I...I will begin again Oh... Maybe the time is right Oh...maybe tonight... I will be with you again I will be with you again And so we're told this is the golden age And gold is the reason for the wars we wage Though I want to be with you Be with you night and day Nothing changes On New Year's Day On New Year's Day
PSYCHOcatholic
I guess ill apologize for what i said earlier...i never knew he had a stroke and i watched his show as well. Made me feel bad! I respect Dick Clark. I was being a little sarcastic. Sorry!
Tenacious_Peaches
No need to apologize. You meant no harm. I was a little on the betrunken side and got a little sensitive, that's all. I really did almost cry when I saw how bad off he was.
PSYCHOcatholic
Yeah, and it was almost like you could hear it in his voice more than you could see it. He is always in such good spirits.
Uncle Joe
I know all about Alan Freed and hundreds of radio DJ's who helped launch rock and roll. But other than the artists themselves no one but on one did more to futher rock and roll in the US than Dick Clark. It is sad to see him in such a physical state but he's come a long way since his stroke. Rock on Dick!
CanAm
Since these are the years of uncertainty, here's an answer to "the safe life" from Mary-Chapin Carpenter: I took a walk in the rain one day on the wrong side of the tracks I stood on the rails till I saw that train Just to see how my heart would react Now some people say that you shouldn't tempt fate And for them I would not disagree But I never learned nothing from playing it safe I say fate should not tempt me I take my chances, I don't mind working without a net I take my chances, I take my chances every chance I get I sat alone in the dark one night, tuning in by remote I found a preacher who spoke of the light but there was brimstone in his throat He'd show me the way according to him in return for my personal check I flipped my channel back to CNN and I lit another cigarette I take my chances, forgiveness doesn't come with a debt I take my chances, I take my chances every chance I get I've crossed lines of words and wire and both have cut me deep I've been frozen out and I've been on fire and the tears are mine to weep Now I can cry until I laugh and laugh until I cry So cut the deck right in half, I'll play from either side I take my chances, I pay my dollar and I place my bet I take my chances, I take my chances every chance I get I take my chances, I don't cling to remorse or regret I take my chances, I take my chances every chance I get I take my chances I take my chances :guitar: Ah, bless you Otokichi, another Mary Chapin Carpenter fan!!! And I was beginning to think I was the only one.
CanAm
How about a little "Expresso Love" by Dire Straits? She get's the sun in the daytime Perfume in the dusk And she comes out in the night time With the honeysuckle musk Because she smells just like a rose And she tastes just like a peach She got me walking where the wildlife goes I'd do anything to reach her And she was made in heaven Heaven's in the world Is this just expresso love You know I'm crazy for the girl She call me just to talk She's my lover she's a friend of mine She says hey mister you wanna take a walk In the wild west end sometime And I get trouble with my breathing She says boys don't know anything But I know what I want I want everything Well I feel so good cos I feel so good And I feel so good cos it feels so right I was made to go with my girl Like a saxophone was made to go with the night And she can raise one eyebrow Put her hand on my hip And I close one eye now Sweat on her lip And I surrender to the fever I surrender to the will of the night She love me so tender I got to believe her Love? expresso love's alright I don't want no sugar in it Thank you very much All wired up on it all fired up on it Expresso touch Hey maestro expresso It's just another one just like the other one Hey maestro expresso Is this another one just like the other one
