Farin Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 you're partly right area is a two-dimensional quantity (length x width), where both parts can be measured in inches... but then you'd have inch x inch = inch^2 or square-inch and that's not the same
Levis Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 I'm aware of that, that's what I said. It's the measurement on the rod of mercury that determines the pressure. And an inch is a unit of area. Area = length x width x height and all those things can be measured in inches. No, no that's volume. Area = length x breadth. Volume is inch^3, area = inch^2. Meanwhile length = length = inch.
