_Laurie_ Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 oh okay I see 55 wanted the whole band name, which I did eventually say it....
_Laurie_ Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 hmmm is Bullet a name of a band?...I'll guess Bullet
katie_sane Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Yep, Brad is right about the Silver Bullet thing, was just about to say that myself! Still, it isn't the horse Old55 is looking for!
OLD 55 Posted December 8, 2005 Author Report Posted December 8, 2005 oh i know that picture... manfred mann's earth band??? I think i even posted this pic once...you're killing me here 55... CONGRATULATIONS LAURIE ! THAT'S THEM. I couldn't say much before, because the Earth Band was formed by Manfred Mann with new members in 1971. Back soon to update the points. Questions 1 and 2 are still current !
_Laurie_ Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 okay, thanks 55....I'll try to be more specific with my answers.... nite, nite.... :sleepy:
OLD 55 Posted December 8, 2005 Author Report Posted December 8, 2005 Still, it isn't the horse Old55 is looking for! Yes Katie ! The Band is named after the cowboy's horse. They were prominent at the end of the 50s/ early 60s. However, despite their age, I'll bet you ALL know one of their songs.
_Laurie_ Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 The Tornado's???for the horse/band name...cant remember what question #...nite nite
OLD 55 Posted December 8, 2005 Author Report Posted December 8, 2005 (edited) Good tries Laurie and Brad. I like all your horse names, but .... Maybe think of an OLD COWBOY STAR first and you can google his horse's name !! And with Q1, you know how some artists do covers of other people's songs..... POINTS TO DATE (Not including Participation Points for Q1 & Q2) Laurie 8 Foxy, edna, daslied, kevin 5 UncleJoe 3 Shawna, bluesboy, brad 1 ................................................ Q1. Another Artist/Group covered songs made famous by these Artists. WHO ? Herb Alpert Bee Gees Commodores O.K. I don't want to have to eat my words. I've said I only use well-known songs. These are, but perhaps the cover versions by the Artist/ Group in question aren't ? The "cover" of the Commodores song charted higher in Australia and the U.K. than the original did. The other two were Album Tracks which got (still do) airplay on FM stations. .................................................. Q2. Which Artist or Group was named after a well known Movie Cowboy's horse ? We're all around this one. Someone will get it ! .................................................. Q3. Who's this well-known Band member poking faces for the camera ? Looks like a fairly old picture ! Edited December 8, 2005 by Guest
edna Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars? Stardust was Bat Masterson s cowboy...
OLD 55 Posted December 8, 2005 Author Report Posted December 8, 2005 Edna, we're going to have to cut back on your dosage. You're having those visions again? Not Bowie, nor Angus Kevin (does look a bit like him now you mention it).
Kevin Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 (edited) Q3 : Micky Dolenz from the Monkees ? Wait ! I've got it ! It's Brian Jones from The Stones --there was a thread talking about this a month or so ago ! He's doing a nanker ! Edited December 8, 2005 by Guest
edna Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 (edited) Oh, I meant Stardust for the name of the horse... Q3- Iggy? Robbie Williams? Edited December 8, 2005 by Guest
katie_sane Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 (edited) Q1. Did Destiny's Child cover songs by them all? I know they covered songs by The Bee Gees and The Commodores, but I'm not very familiar with Herb Alpert. Edited December 8, 2005 by Guest
OLD 55 Posted December 8, 2005 Author Report Posted December 8, 2005 Q3 Wait ! I've got it ! It's Brian Jones from The Stones --there was a thread taking about this a month or so ago ! He's doing a nanker ! CONGRAULATIONS KEVIN ! BRIAN JONES IT IS. I didn't see the thread. I got a book titled "According To The Rolling Stones" as a Birthday gift and this pic is in it. I still don't know what a "nanker" face is (that's what it's called in the book too). ............................................... WITH Q2 - I really would suggest you think of old time cowboys first - ask some older relatives maybe - and THEN try for the name of their horses - Google will bring it up I'm sure ! ................................................. Back Later.
OLD 55 Posted December 8, 2005 Author Report Posted December 8, 2005 I'm not sure Katie, but you're on the right track !!
edna Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Horse name band: The Shadows. The Champions.
edna Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Q1: Liberace. The all dressed like Liberace.
OLD 55 Posted December 8, 2005 Author Report Posted December 8, 2005 LAURIE PLEASE READ ! #3...Spirit? or The Champs??? Now, I've just been going through the posts collating the Points, and I THINK Laurie meant this for Q2, the Group named after a cowboy's horse, NOT the (then) Q3, Brotherhood Of Man. Is that so Laurie? Your word is good enough for us. The correct answer to Q2 IS "The Champs" who took their name from Gene Autry's horse, Champ. Their Big Hit was of course "Tequila". So Q2 is cancelled and the points in abeyance until I hear from Laurie. SO POINTS TO DATE(Not including Participation Points for Q1 & Q2)ARE: Kevin 10 Laurie 8 Edna 6 Foxy, daslied 5 UncleJoe 3 Shawna, bluesboy, brad 1 ................................................
OLD 55 Posted December 8, 2005 Author Report Posted December 8, 2005 CURRENT Q1. NOW JACKPOTTED TO 8 POINTS ! Another Artist/Group covered songs made famous by these Artists. WHO ? Herb Alpert Bee Gees Commodores (I've said I only use well-known songs. These are, but perhaps the cover versions by the Artist/ Group in question aren't ? The "cover" of the Commodores song charted higher in Australia and the U.K. than the original did. The other two were Album Tracks which got(still do here) airplay on FM stations, and the Bee Gees one was a minor Hit in the U.K. ................................................. NEW Q2. Two songs that are titled completely opposite ! The Ventures / Pink Floyd. What are the two songs ? ................................................. NEW Q3. Which Artist/ Group often has his/her/their name shown in the form of a guitar ? ................................................. NEW Q4. Who's the 50's Group ? ................................................. Not too difficult Questions, I think. Goodnight and Good Luck All.
edna Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 (edited) Q4 is Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps. Q3: Creedence Clearwater revival are one of them... but there are many... Edited December 8, 2005 by Guest
