That Awful Day

Rodney Carrington

Well I got home and the door was locked, so I tried to ring the bell. I found a little bitty note, that she had wrote tellin' me to go to hell. I crawled in the window, got inside, she kicked me in the ba**s and then I cried, called me a name, said I lied, kicked me again and I thought I died. Took 'm clothes, set 'em on fire, then hit me with, her curlin' iron. I tried to block it, with my watch, and then she kicked me in the crotch again.....

Today's the day my wife met my girlfriend...

Well I tried to tell her but she didn't care, that things weren't what they seemed. She had a pan on the stove full of boilin' water, and my 'nads would soon be steamed. I tried to run, screamed for help. She hit me in the nertz with a rhinestone belt. It was like nothin' that I ever felt. I thank God I wasn't wearin' a kilt. She grabbed a bat from beneath the bed, swung it once, missed m' head. She reared back, swung it again, and then she hit me in the twins again....

Today's the day my wife met my girlfriend...

Yeah, today's that awful day, and my boys won't be the same, yeah today's the day my wife met my girlfriend...........

Ken.

Peter Tosh - Why Must I Cry

off the Legalize It album

Why must I cry

These tears from mine eyes?

Why must I cry

These tears from mine eyes?

Making believe you love me only

(Just love) was my great sin

(Just love) was my great sin

(Just love) was my great sin

(Just love)

But I will never fall in love again

Cause only my heart feels the pain

Feels the pain

Why must I trod

This lonely, lonely road?

Why must I carry

This heavy, heavy load?

Making believe you love me only

(Just love) was my great sin

(Just love) was my great sin

(Just love) was my great sin

(Just love) was my great sin

I'll never fall in love again

Cause only my heart feels the pain

Feels the pain, sad pain

I will never fall in love again

Cause only my heart feels the pain

Feels the pain

Why must I cry

These tears from mine eyes?

Why must I cry

These tears from mine eyes?

Why must I trod

This lonely, lonely, lonely road?

Why must I carry

This heavy, heavy, heavy load?

Why must I cry

These tears from mine eyes?

Why must I cry

These tears from mine eyes?

Why must I trod

This lonely, lonely, lonely road?

Why must I carry

This heavy, heavy, heavy load?

Love Hurts

This song has been done by plenty of great artists

but I like the Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris version.

Love hurts love scars love wounds and mars

Any heart not tough nor strong enough

To take a lot of pain take a lot of pain

Love is like a cloud holds a lot of rain.

Love Hurts uh - uh Love Hurts.

I'm young I know but even so

I know a thing or two I've learned from you

I've really learned a lot, really learned a lot

Love is like a stove burns you when it's hot

Love Hurts Uh - Uh Love hurts.

Some fools rave of happiness

Blissfullness togetherness

Some fools fool themselves I guess,

But they're not fooling me

I know it isn't true, no it isn't true

Love is just a lie, made to make you blue

Love hurts Uh - uh love hurts.

This is my swan song. :(

I'm Movin' On ~ Rascal Flatts

I've dealt with my ghosts and I've faced all my demons

Finally content with a past I regret

I've found you find strength in your moments of weakness

For once I'm at peace with myself

I have been burdened with blame, trapped in the past for too long

I'm movin' on

I've lived in this place and I know all the faces

Each one is different but they're always the same

They mean me no harm but it's time that I face it

They'll never allow me to change

But I never dreamed home would end up where I don't belong

I'm movin' on

I'm movin' on

At last I can see life has been patiently waiting for me

And I know there's no guarantees, but I'm not alone

There comes a time in everyone's life

When all you can see are the years passing by

And I have made up my mind that those days are gone

I sold what I could and packed what I couldn't

Stopped to fill up on my way out of town

I've loved like I should but lived like I shouldn't

I had to lose everything to find out

Maybe forgiveness will find me somewhere down this road

I'm movin' on

I'm movin' on

I'm movin' on

*not such a sad song...I just felt this was the proper placement*

Sometimes it bugs me, that most of you can't speak German :)

But I just heard one of the most beautiful "Tear Jerker" Songs on radio, maybe you'll like it...

Background:

Herbert Grönemeyer is one of most respected and succesful musicians (and sometimes actor) in Germany. In 1998 his wife and his brother died within just a few days.

This song is Grönemeyer's declaration of how he intends to go on despite the pain he feels over the loss of his wife. Even if life isn't fair ("Das Leben ist nicht fair"), Grönemeyer says that's no excuse to give up and points out his wife's qualities and her own refusal to give in.

Der Weg ~ Herbert Grönemeyer

lyrics (German and English)

:smirk:

Yeah, that sort of bugs me, too.

now THAT'S a truly tearjerker reason for a song. I love his attitude... I can't imagine the pain of that...

Si seulement j´avais été en classe pendant que Frau Helfer essayait de nous apprendre l´allemand au lieu de sécher mes cours pour aller fumer de l´herbe chez Didier...

That's why I always smoked weed on weekends or holidays only...

We haven't all avoided speaking German / discussing German music. This thread features animated debate about Krautrock, cunningly incorporating Nina Hagen und ein wenig Deutsch-sprechen. So please don't get the impression that German music isn't even worthy of comment... http://forum.songfacts.com/showtopic.php?tid/139015/all/1/

My above comment was intended as tounge-in-cheek as a response to RonJon's post. Of course I wouldn't seriously accuse you of not speaking German. Especially since I'm the only native German speaker here, that would be kinda dumb, imo.

Additionatly, just so there are no wrong impressions, when I said, that it bugs me that there are not so many German speakers here, I meant that it's sometimes a little bit frustrating, because I know so many wonderful songs and talented artists, that I can't share with you, because they don't speak English.

I hope I clarified that...

P.S. I was raised on this song...heeeavy duty sad.

'Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind,

Wo sind sie geblieben?

Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind,

Was ist gescheh'n?

Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind,

Mädchen pflückten sie geschwind.

Wann wird man je versteh'n,

Wann wird man je versteh'n?

Sag mir, wo die Mädchen sind

Männer nahmen sie geschwind.

Sag mir, wo die Männer sind

Zogen fort, der Krieg beginnt.

Sag, wo die Soldaten sind

Über Gräbern weht der Wind.

Sag mir, wo die Gräber sind

Blumen weh'n im Sommerwind.'
