'The First Cut Is The Deepest', particularly the version by Rod Stewart always gets to me for personal reasons. Silly that a song sung by a leopard-print 'Peter Stringfellow' Scot can bring a grown man to tears if alone and contemplative of past love lost.....

Regards

Diggs, not silly at all! The song has meaning for you. I like that. That Scot can be moving on particular songs, I find that true anyway. Leopard print or not. ;)

"My Immortal" by Evanescence is a pretty sad song.

I’m so tired of being here

Suppressed by all my childish fears

And if you have to leave

I wish that you would just leave

’cause your presence still lingers here

And it won’t leave me alone

These wounds won’t seem to heal

This pain is just too real

There’s just too much that time cannot erase

[chorus:]

When you cried I’d wipe away all of your tears

When you’d scream I’d fight away all of your fears

I held your hand through all of these years

But you still have

All of me

You used to captivate me

By your resonating life

Now I’m bound by the life you left behind

Your face it haunts

My once pleasant dreams

Your voice it chased away

All the sanity in me

These wounds won’t seem to heal

This pain is just too real

There’s just too much that time cannot erase

[chorus]

I’ve tried so hard to tell myself that you’re gone

But though you’re still with me

I’ve been alone all along

[chorus]

It made me cry also.

McKinley Mitchell's "End Of The Rainbow"

I went running, to the end, of a rainbow. Looking for the treasure, they said, I would find. I found nothing, but heartaches, and trouble, and I'm about to lose, my mind.

On the way, the load, got heavy. And the burdens got hard, to bear. None of my friends, was there, to help me, left me standing in the middle, of nowhere

With a heart, full of pain, I was lost. So blind, I couldn't see a thing. I couldn't even, remember, my name. They talked loud and clear. Every word, my ears, could hear. And my heart was heavy, I couldn't even move, I just stood there, like a silly fool.

I believe, I'll go, back home. And start, all over again. I left my rainbow, behind me, right where I , I began (listen)

Goin', Goin' Goin', goin' home.

I'm goin' home, to the end of the rainbow...

Goin' goin' goin', goin' home....

I'm goin' home, to the end of the rainbow....

Lord, I'm goin home.....

I heard the most drippy sad song the other day on the radio... forgotten it existed. Henry Gross wrote and recorded the song "Shannon" about his dog that died.

Exerpt:

Shannon is gone I heard

she's drifting out to sea

She always loved to swim and play

Maybe she'll find an island

Where there's shade and trees

Just like the one in our backyard.

And this is sung with such emotion!

"Cat's in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin absolutely kills me. :(

Me too.. Another one that gets me is Neverland by Marillion.. The second half of the song is as if Peter Pan came back to ask Wendy to come to Neverland with him again when she was older.. There's a sad premise if ever I heard one!

When the darkness takes me over

Face down, emptier than zero

Invisible you come to me

..quietly

Stay beside me

Whisper to me "Here I am"

And the loneliness fades

Some people think I'm somethin'

Well you gave me that, I know

But I always feel like nothing

When I'm in the dark alone

You provide the soul, the spark that drives me on

Makes me something more than flesh and bone

At times like these

Any fool can see

Any fool can see

Your love inside me

All these years

Truth In front of my eyes

While I denied

What my heart knows was right

At times like these

Any fool can see

Any fool can see

Your love inside me

I want to be someone

I want to be someone

I want to be someone

Who someone would want to be

Someone would want to be

Wendy

Darling

In the kitchen

With your dreams

Will you fly

again

Take to the sky

again

Undo the hooks

Once and for all

Banish the tic tic tic tok tok tok

Again

Will you be

Yourself for me

Cause I can take it

I can stand

Anything

When you're with me

I can stand it

I can stand

But when you're gone

I never land

In Neverland

Want to be someone someone would want to be

someone someone would want to be

someone someone would want to be

someone someone someone someone

Any fool

Any fool can see

Any fool can see

Your love

Inside me

Patsy Cline - Leavin' On Your Mind

Written by Wayne Walker and Webb Pierce

(As released by Patsy Cline January 7, 1963)

If you've got leavin' on your mind

Tell me now, get it over

Hurt me now, get it over

If you've got leavin' on your mind

If there's a new love in your heart

Tell me now, get it over

Hurt me now, get it over

If there's a new love in your heart

Don't leave me here in a world

Filled with dreams that might have been

Hurt me now, get it over

I may learn to love again

If there's a new love in your heart

Tell me now, get it over

Hurt me now, get it over

If there's a new love in your heart

Hurt me now, get it over

If there's a new love in your heart
