Rock Hall of Fame Announces Inductees

NEW YORK - Black Sabbath, Miles Davis and the Sex Pistols are among five musical legends to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation will hold its induction ceremony March 13 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Manhattan, the organization announced Monday.

Also to be inducted into the class of 2006: 1980s New Wave band Blondie and Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, who founded A&M records in 1962, will receive a lifetime achievement award in the non-performer category.

Inductees into the side-men category will be announced at a later date.

Musicians, industry professionals and journalists vote on the nominations. Artists are eligible to be inducted into the Rock Hall after at least 25 years have passed since their first record was released.

Yes, Buddy Miles did play with Hendrix, in the Band Of Gypsies period. I've always heard about a bootleg that Jimi did with Miles Davis, but I don't know if it actually exists. I do know that Jimi was a huge influence on Miles around the time of "Bitches Brew", so maybe that counts. ;)

No, I don´t think we are... I cannot find any clue but I´m sure that I remember something about a record with both Hendrix and Davies... it was back in the early seventies (Hendrix was dead already) and I had many friends from Germany and Holland who had bootlegs or strange records... I´ll keep searching.

I was talking to an old friend yesterday about that collaboration Hendrix/Davies, he says it might be a bootleg copy of the Festival of Wight, 1970, where they recorded the whole performance of Hendrix and the whole performance of Miles Davies... so it might have been a strange bootleg compilation with just the two of them playing... but not jamming together.

That´s all the info I have...
