Uncle Joe
Songfacts recieved a nice plug this morning on Philly's Classic Rock station, WMGK, 102.9 FM. In explaining how she gets a lot of her background info on songs/bands, etc. Debbi Kalton (weekdays 9 AM-2PM)referred to her extensive background in the field but then stated "Of course I don't know everything and have forgotten much of what I once knew. That's why I love Songfacts". She specifically referrred to Genesis' Mama which she was about to play. Debbi quoted the following from Songfacts, "This is about a young man obsessed with a prostitute who is not interested in him. He has an Oedipal fixation on her, and insists on calling her "Mama." It's based on a book Collins read called The Moon's A Balloon, by David Niven. In the book, a young man falls in love with an older prostitute who does not return his affections". She hadn't known that and was asked by a listener what the song meant. She then went on to describe the site and gave the URL. I'm dropping her an e-mail to thank her and to invite her to the message boards.
Carl
That's big time cool Joe. Thanks for letting us know and sending the DJ with excellent taste a note. Songfacts has quietly become the best free show prep site on the Internet.
