Winger20
OK..I heard a song today at lunch..I know it was an older song..let's say the 70's. And they were singing about a man. I know that sounds pretty vague, HOWEVER.. it was like "He was a happy man" "He was a generous man" They talked about this man. It SORTA sounded like possibly the BeatlesISH. More of an upbeat tempo. Any ideas?? Edited November 3, 2005 by Guest
daslied
Could it have been "A Well-Respected Man" by The Kinks? Sounds like what you're describing, and is very Beatle-esque.
Shawna
Is it this one by chance? It's the first one that came to mind. Kinks - A Well Respected Man cause he gets up in the morning, And he goes to work at nine, And he comes back home at five-thirty, Gets the same train every time. cause his world is built round punctuality, It never fails. And he's oh, so good, And he's oh, so fine, And he's oh, so healthy, In his body and his mind. He's a well respected man about town, Doing the best things so conservatively. And his mother goes to meetings, While his father pulls the maid, And she stirs the tea with councilors, While discussing foreign trade, And she passes looks, as well as bills At every suave young man cause he's oh, so good, And he's oh, so fine, And he's oh, so healthy, In his body and his mind. He's a well respected man about town, Doing the best things so conservatively. And he likes his own backyard, And he likes his fags the best, cause he's better than the rest, And his own sweat smells the best, And he hopes to grab his father?s loot, When pater passes on. cause he's oh, so good, And he's oh, so fine, And he's oh, so healthy, In his body and his mind. He's a well respected man about town, Doing the best things so conservatively. And he plays at stocks and shares, And he goes to the regatta, And he adores the girl next door, 'cause he's dying to get at her, But his mother knows the best about The matrimonial stakes. cause he's oh, so good, And he's oh, so fine, And he's oh, so healthy, In his body and his mind. He's a well respected man about town, Doing the best things so conservatively.
miamisammy29
Winger20 ^HEY, IT'S STEWART! Could it be "Lucky Man" by Emerson, Lake and Palmer? "He had white horses And ladies by the score All dressed in satin And waiting by the door Ooooh, what a lucky man he was Ooooh, what a lucky man he was White lace and feathers They made up his bed A gold covered mattress On which he was laid Ooooh, what a lucky man he was Ooooh, what a lucky man he was He went to fight wars For his country and his king Of his honor and his glory The people would sing Ooooh, what a lucky man he was Ooooh, what a lucky man he was A bullet had found him His blood ran as he cried No money could save him So he laid down and he died Ooooh, what a lucky man he was Ooooh, what a lucky man he was"
