RonJonSurfer
This guy is classic, so I put this post here. I was just listening to a very recent (two days ago) interview with Studs. He is 93 and had bypass a few months back. The doc said Studs is the oldest guy he ever knew to survive the procedure. His mind is so clear and sharp..it's scary. The man knows music, politics, religion, comedy, and music. He knows the ancient stuff and the new stuff. He talked about the 1919 Black Sox scandal then said, "but they won last night and are in the series". I never knew much about him, but this interview on public radio was wonderful. Check out this link: http://www.bobsboots.com/CDs/cd-s73.html It's a 1963 interview with Bob Dylan...wow. All I know is I'm going to buy a Studs Terkel Book and enjoy reading it. MarcM
I read his book "The Good War" a few years back. It is a great WW2 book and I can see why it won a Pulitzer. He himself could not serve in the military in WW2 due to a perferated ear drum, so he joined the Red Cross.
