Jenny
I just heard an XTC song for the first time..."The Man who Murdered Love" or something like that. Anyone a fan? Can anyone tell me if that song is representative of their sound? Yes, I know I could check them out on Amazon, but sometimes 30 second sound bites don't tell you much. I want to know if they're worth checking out.
johnnyguitar
Well worth checking out. Making Plans for Nigel is a 'classic' but my favourite single of theirs was Senses Working Overtime. A greatest hits compilation, if such a thing exists, would be enjoyed by most folk with taste.
miamisammy29
I've only heard about five or six songs by them. I like them; they have a comical flair. I would compare their style and sound to that of the Barenaked Ladies.
Ken
I have a fantastic concert tape I recently converted over to DVD, "Urgh! A Music War". Loads and loads of bands on it, no talking, no interviews. Just music. XTC is on there with a great song "Respectable Street". Ken.
DiggsUK
They are a quintisentially English band with a political (with a small 'p') bent. Well worth checking out if you like that sort of thing. Regards
Jenny
Thanks, I will try to get my hands on a CD or two. I like Barenaked Ladies' sound, and I liked the one song I heard, so hopefully, I will enjoy it and expand my collection
Lambchop Flansburgh
XTC has a greatest hits collection called "Upsy Daisy Assortment - The Sweetest Hits." It's quite great. The 2 CD's I would recommend most would be "Mummer" and "Oranges and Lemons," although "Skylarking" is pretty amazing as well.
