RonJonSurfer
McCartney Fires Back With Ono Slam He says she's not the brightest of buttons. United Press International Former Beatle Paul McCartney says he would have an unfair advantage in a war of words with Yoko Ono because she's not the brightest of buttons. Her life is dedicated to putting me down but I attempt very strongly not to put her down, McCartney, 63, reportedly said of John Lennon's widow. She's John's wife so I have to respect her for that, but I don't think she's the brightest of buttons. She's said some particularly daft things in her time, McCartney was quoted as saying in Monday's Daily Mirror. Ono, 72, said last week in London that Lennon used to be obsessed with why McCartney's songs were more popular than his own. I said, 'You're a good songwriter, she said. It's not June with spoon you write.'
OLD 55
We used to have an interviewer, Norman Gunston - the Little Aussie Bleeder. He'd interview celebrities and take the mickey out of them. Their initial reaction was "is this guy for real" ? I recently saw some footage of an old press conference where he spoke to Paul and Linda McCartney not long after they were married, and he broke them up when he said to Linda, "Funny, you don't look Japanese". OLD 55
That's right Katie. I wonder if our American friends have seen Norman Gunston (alter ego of Garry McDonald) ? He used to have shaving cuts all over his face with little piecess of paper on them to absorb the bleeding. One of my favorites was when he "interviewed" the two Sumo wrestlers and he called them babies (in their nappies) and coochy cooed them under their chin(s). I thought they were going to kill him. RonJonSurfer
what exactly does It's not june with spoon you write mean? I think she was saying that John wrote "deep and meaningful" lyrics as opposed to Paul who wrote catchy, rhyming pop tunes. I think she meant to say June and Moon which is common. Her and John always felt that John's work was the hip, socially important stuff, while Paul wrote "Silly Love Songs". After all these years she still carries John's torch....that's pretty good from a loyalty standpoint, isn't it?

_Laurie_
yeah she probably did mean june in moon, since she's not the brightest of buttons, I'll forgive her.
edna
Moon in June is a beautifull Soft Machine song. I won´t post the lyrics cause I don´t think they are good anyways but the music is worth it. From a musical point of view, I still prefer Sir Paul rather than Yoko Ono. RonJonSurfer
I'm sorry Paul, and that's not all It was a joke -oh, your friend Yoko Yoko Ono Apologizes for McCartney Remark NEW YORK - Yoko Ono has apologized to Paul McCartney for insinuating that his songs are trite. Accepting an award on behalf of John Lennon last month, Ono said Lennon had sometimes felt insecure about his songs, asking "why they always cover Paul's songs and never mine." "I said, `You're a good songwriter, it's not June with spoon that you write.'" After reports of the apparent slight circulated, Ono apologized in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine, now on newsstands. "I certainly did not mean to hurt Paul, and if I did, I am very sorry," she says. McCartney has sometimes clashed with Ono, Lennon's widow. She objected when McCartney reversed the traditional "Lennon-McCartney" songwriting credit on his 2002 album, "Back in the U.S." Ono's spokesman accused him of attempting to "rewrite history." McCartney had earlier complained that Ono wouldn't let him take credit for "Yesterday," a song written entirely by McCartney. ___

I didn't agree with her when she caused the Beatles to break up. I don't agree with her inhumane attempts to attract the rutting moose and then referring to it as "singing". I didn't agree with her when she killed Kurt Cobain. I didn't agree with her when she assassinated Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. And I didn't agree with her when she left Pedro Martinez in to pitch to Hideki Matsui in the eighth inning of Game 7. However, the songs were Lennon/McCartney compositions. Had McCartney wanted more credit for those that were primarily written by him, he should have stated that when he wrote them....not 40 years later. Come on, Paul, what?...1.2 billion isn't enough for you? You think an extra 500 bucks a year per song is gonna pay your taxes for you?
RonJonSurfer
I agree with you...his legacy is set...why the change now. It's not like ringo trying to get some more credit.
