Carl
Hello. Can anyone help with this: What a great site this is! It has been very handy in helping me understand songs that did not always make sense. For my English class I need to find a song that describes an imaginative journey. Could you please recommend any lyrics to me other than Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds.

edna
Theme For An Imaginary Western - Mountain (one of the most under-rated classic rock songs and bands of all time). What a beautiful song... too good they played it at Woodstock, otherwise I wonder if anybody would have noticed about this song. THEME FOR AN IMAGINARY WESTERN When the wagons leave the city For the forest and futher on Painted wagon of the morning Dusty roads where they´ve gone Sometimes travelin´ through the darkness At the summer comin´ home Foreing faces by the wayside Look as if they hadn´t known All the sad was in their eyes And the desert that´s dry In a country town Where the map was found Oh the dancing and the singing Oh the music when they play Oh the fire that they saw there On the grave of no return Sometimes they found it Sometimes they kept it Ofen lost in on the way Pawnee shadow to possess him Sometimes ride inside of day Oh the sad was in their eyes And the desert that´s dry In a country town Where the map was found Oh the sad was in their eye And the desert that´s dry In a country town Where the wagons bound It´s a Jack Bruce song, I recall? I didn´t find who the author was...

_Laurie_
I always liked this song too! Lyrics for: After The Goldrush Well, I dreamed I saw the knights In armor coming, Saying something about a queen. There were peasants singing and Drummers drumming And the archer split the tree. There was a fanfare blowing To the sun That was floating on the breeze. Look at mother nature on the run In the nineteen seventies. Look at mother nature on the run In the nineteen seventies. I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high. I was thinking about what a Friend had said I was hoping it was a lie. Thinking about what a Friend had said I was hoping it was a lie. Well, I dreamed I saw the silver Space ships flying In the yellow haze of the sun, There were children crying And colors flying All around the chosen ones. All in a dream, all in a dream The loading had begun. They were flying mother nature?s Silver seed to a new home in the sun. Flying mother nature?s Silver seed to a new home
RonJonSurfer
Edna, "Theme" is an amazing song. I recall a unique playing of that song on The Howard Stern show once. Jack Bruce was in London, he called into the show and did the vocals. Meanwhile, Leslie West was in Stern's New York studio and played the guitar...a transatlantic duet. I had the original album (Windfall) in the early seventies, I remember the label... but they also did a live version in Woodstock, it´s on "Woodstock II" (the one which has two records with the kids and the drum on the cover), there´s also "Blood of the sun". bluesboy
how about - Cowboy Star - Ambrosia ('76) (Puerta - Pack - North - Drummond) Of man's progress I don't give a hoot And man's estrangements Of nature's arrangements Has given cause for my heartbreak To boot The simple life though Filled with strife And struggle with the land Still remained its simple self And that I understand So city smog and dog eat dog For some may hold sublime Well as for me If I had my way I'd had lived Some other time Praise the prairie And pass the cake I'd like to eat it too But being born now was my mistake I've passed the buckaroo I'd say You're right No chance Why fight? Why be A cowboy star (But) Hump back brahmas Lovely cow mamas Saw dust floor saloons Dance hall queens Romanced in my dreams So why pop my baloon? No chance Why fight? Still in my own right I'd be A cowboy star Dreams of my life Are so carried away If just in my dreams I could Be for one day Just for one day Lost in my dreams I'll be riding away Like a cowboy star Stage set: Sundown, In my last Showdown I'll be.... Tenacious_Peaches
Whenever I see the title of this thread, I think it's about the band Journey. As much as I love to sing "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" when I am in a betrunken state, I don't think any of their songs are terribly imaginitive. _Laurie_
did anyone mention stairway to heaven yet? :guitar: There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold And she's buying a stairway to heaven And when she gets there she knows if the stores are closed With a word she can get what she came for Woe oh oh oh oh oh And she's buying a stairway to heaven There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure And you know sometimes words have two meanings In the tree by the brook there's a songbird who sings Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven Woe oh oh oh oh oh And she's buying a stairway to heaven There's a feeling I get when I look to the west And my spirit is crying for leaving In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees And the voices of those who stand looking Woe oh oh oh oh oh And she's buying a stairway to heaven And it's whispered that soon, if we all call the tune Then the piper will lead us to reason And a new day will dawn for those who stand long And the forest will echo with laughter And it makes me wonder If there's a bustle in your hedgerow Don't be alarmed now It's just a spring clean for the May Queen Yes there are two paths you can go by but in the long run There's still time to change the road you're on Your head is humming and it won't go because you don't know The piper's calling you to join him Dear lady can't you hear the wind blow and did you know Your stairway lies on the whispering wind And as we wind on down the road Our shadows taller than our souls There walks a lady we all know Who shines white light and wants to show How everything still turns to gold And if you listen very hard The tune will come to you at last When all are one and one is all To be a rock and not to roll Woe oh oh oh oh oh And she's buying a stairway to heaven There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold And she's buying a stairway to heaven And when she gets there she knows if the stores are closed With a word she can get what she came for And she's buying a stairway to heaven, uh uh uh
