You are right, Rach, to a point. That's why I listen to new music also....to find out if anything matches up with the older stuff. But so far, I've been hard-pressed to find any. The closest I've heard - and this includes musicianship and songwriting ability - are Jet and the Foo Fighters. Lenny Kravitz and the Black Crowes are a bit older, but can still be put in this group....not a whole lot outside of these....The Offspring, Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls, maybe a few more.

The major problem I see with new bands is that they try to make every song sound exactly the same. They have one good song on their debut album, and everything else is very, very similar. Why? Because it sells. Take some chances. Mix it up a bit. Try a ballad every now and then; try some funk; mix in some country blues even.

Until a band can show me that they can change it up and make it sound good, then I just can't put them in with the big boys.
