Goodbye Blue Sky

Did you see the frightened ones?

Did you hear the falling bombs?

Did you ever wonder why we

Had to run for shelter when the

Promise of a brave, new world

Unfurled beneath the clear blue sky?

Did you see the frightened ones?

Did you hear the falling bombs?

The flames are all long gone, but the pain lingers on.

Goodbye, blue sky

Goodbye, blue sky.

Goodbye. Goodbye.

By Pink Floyd (David Gilmour)

Roger Waters said "It sums up my life to this point."

He is saying Goodbye to the Blue Sky, which is his Mother. Mother is another Pink Floyd songs, which is directly before Goodbye Blue Sky.

Part II lyrics:

We don't need no education

We dont need no thought control

No dark sarcasm in the classroom

Teachers leave them kids alone

Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!

All in all it's just another brick in the wall.

All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

We don't need no education

We dont need no thought control

No dark sarcasm in the classroom

Teachers leave them kids alone

Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!

All in all it's just another brick in the wall.

All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

"Wrong, Do it again!"

"If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you

have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?"

"You! Yes, you behind the bikesheds, stand still laddy!"

I always though 'Goodbye Blue Sky' had two meanings, literal and symbolic. In the literal sense, and the in the context of the movie, it's the blanketing of the sky with war planes during WWII. There were literally thousands of aircraft in the sky on a daily basis over Europe. It couls alos mean the smoke from the bombings, even the flak from the ground forces.

The symbolic one, however, had to do with the loss of innocence and childhood with the coming of the war, or adolescence, or whatever. A blue sky represents clarity, and a certain degree of purity.

those are just my own interpretations, though.
