Hi there. I just wanted to say I'm not familiar with the song you describe but I did do an extensive search using combinations of your key phrases with no luck.

Hopefully someone will find the answer for you.

Another thing too, the guy in that song sounds hilariously desperate.

This sounds like your song. I couldn't find the exact lyrics - there's a few questionable spots in here, but it should help you out :)

JUST ONE MORE NIGHT

Yellow Dog

Oh, in the Flamingo club, on the southeast side

Sits Rodriguez and his friendly bride

And they spent two minutes down by the riverside

She started wishin' of the man

He ran upway the blonde in a black Sedan

But she, she got no place to stayin'

He heard a sweet voice sayin'

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Oh, one more night, just the one more night

Could I please stay, just the one more night

I'll be leaving in the morning if that's all right

Oh, could I stay, could I please stay

Could, could I, could I please stay

One more night

And the morning came

And she, she made him breakfast

She left this house and she, she liked to (?)

She liked the way he made love to her

Could she stay a little bit longer

'Til she, she found a better town

If she, she got no place to stayin'

He heard a sweet voice sayin'

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Oh, one more night, just the one more night

Could I please stay, just the one more night

I'll be leaving in the morning if that's all right

Oh, could I stay, could I please stay

Could I, could I, could I please stay

One more night

And the next week came, and look we got her back

She moved the paradigm up

But daddy cat, the Persian (?) and the welcome mat

Could you please let her (?)

For the ? (?) the sweet skin (?)

I say, she, she got no place to stayin'

He heard a sweet voice sayin'

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Oh, one more night, just the one more night

Could I please stay, just the one more night

I'll be leaving in the morning if that's okay

Could I stay, could I please stay, could I scusi please a-stay

Just one more night

Oh let, let me, let me stay, scusi-a please-a let me stay

Just one more, one more night

Oh, could I stay, could I please stay

I'll wash up the dishes

Let me, let me, let me stay

I'll make up the bed, yeah

Please won't you let me stay

I'll take out the garbage

Please, please, one more night

NO!

Could I stay, could I please stay

I don't want a sharp bed

I don't want a barbed (?) bed ?

As far as purchasing it, Amazon didn't have it. You may do best to contact stores that specialize in rare music. Knowing the name of the band should help your search dramatically. Good luck, let us know if you find it

Dam it's a small world. I'm also from Newcastle Australia and was also trying to remember who sang that song.

I found this thread vis google BTW. Typed in the few lyrics I could remember, "one more night" "welcome mat" and google sent me straight here. :)

In the back of my mind I kept getting the feeling that it was sung by "Three Dog Night", but searching by that band turned up nothing. I guess the "Dog" part was the common theme that got me onto that track.
