Song about... places, cities, home(s).

I was wondering if you can help me with this theme...

I love songs like "Sweet Home Alabama", or "Autumn In New York"... songs about places I love, and the author loves.

Do you know any song that can be also only close to this theme? Any kind of music, country, jazz, blues...thanks!

Aiden.

Dedicated to Uncle Joe: Wildwood Days

What the heck, how about "Palisades Park" written by the Gong Show's Chuck Barris.

Palisades Park was the closest amusement park to New York City for years. It closed down in the 70's I guess. All the top bands of the day played there. They also had the first wave pool around, thus there theme song (on commenrcials not the Chuck Barris song) had the lines:

Ride the coaster, get cool

In the waves in the pool

You'll have fun

So come on over

Yes, RonJon, believe her, I was under their influence when I posted a dirty word... Jr was so shocked!

Were you thinking of "S**gfacts"? Or maybe "Song*act*"? Will you post the correct guess, please? Will ya?? :jester:

musical interlude

Rocky Top

by the Osborne Brothers

Wish that I was on ol' Rocky Top

down in the Tennessee hills

Ain't no smoggy smoke on Rocky Top

Ain't no telephone bills

Once I had a girl on Rocky Top

Half bear, other half cat

Wild as a mink, but sweet as soda pop

I still dream about that

Rocky Top, you'll always be

home sweet home to me

Good ol' Rocky Top

Rocky Top, Tennessee

Rocky Top, Tennessee

Once two strangers climbed ol' Rocky Top

lookin' for a moonshine still

Strangers ain't come down from Rocky Top

Reckon they never will

Corn won't grow at all on Rocky Top

Dirt's too rocky by far

That's why all the folks on Rocky Top

get their corn from a jar

Rocky Top, you'll always be

home sweet home to me

Good ol' Rocky Top

Rocky Top, Tennessee

Rocky Top, Tennessee

(instrumental)

I've had years of cramped-up city life

Trapped like a duck in a pen

All I know is it's a pity life

Can't be simple again

Rocky Top, you'll always be

home sweet home to me

Good ol' Rocky Top

Rocky Top, Tennessee
