TRUST ANNOUNCES LINE-UP FOR CORNWALL'S BIGGEST OUTDOOR MUSIC EVENT

The National Trust has announced the line up for Cornwall's biggest outdoor music event - Rock Meets Blues in the Park at Lanhydrock on Saturday 16 July.

Performers at this year's concert are: The Yardbirds, one of the most important bands in the 1960s London blues, pop & rock scene and one that launched the careers of famous musicians such as Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin). The Hamsters, widely regarded as the UK's leading interpreters of ZZ Top will return this year due to popular demand, and Amos Garrett, a Canadian folk/blues singer songwriter and local indie rock band 25th Hour will entertain the crowd in the afternoon.

The Trusts' Rock Meets Blues in the Park at Lanhydrock is sponsored by Pirate FM, and this year approximately 10,000 people are expected. For over seven hours, music lovers will be entertained by a mix of rock and blues, surrounded by floodlit woodland. The concert concludes with a musical firework display.

Brian Muelaner, National Trust Event Organiser said:

'We are really excited about the concert this year, not only is it becoming more popular year on year, but we are able to secure bigger and better acts. As Cornwall's biggest outdoor music event we are expecting around 10,000 people, but because the park at Lanhydrock is so extensive there will still be lots of room for people to bring along their picnics and for children to play football! That's what's so great about the concert, it's a popular event with families and people of all ages.'

Beverley Warne, Pirate FM's Station Manager said:

'We are delighted to be associated with this prestigious event again this year. The 10,000 strong crowd last year were treated to a number of top class acts, which culminated in a fantastic fireworks display. It is an event not to be missed.'

Tickets can be purchased by telephoning 01208 265211 or 01208 74290. Tickets: Advance £18 (£9 under 16yrs) in the unlikely event of tickets being available on the night: £21 (£10.50 under 16yrs). (Fee for credit / debit card bookings 50p). Money raised from the concert will be used to fund conservation and preservation work
