Post Beatles Stuff

Anyone who's been here a while knows I enjoy downloading and burning cds.

I always like to have a theme of some sort, and I have decided to burn a cd with the work of George, Ringo, John and Paul's post Beatles work.

Any suggestions? I know I could easily fill up a cd or two, I just like to hear what others enjoy. I can gather songs I might not normally think to put on a cd myself.

Thanks, Songfactors.

Ringo´s first solo album is beautifulll... but "It don´t come easy" is a very good song. "Photograph" too...

George Harrison: "My Sweet Lord", "Wah Wah", "What is Life" and "Apple Scruffs", "Isn´t it a pity"... Two songs of his second album, the one that goes "IIIII want you, honey but don´t make wait too long..." (title???) and "Give me love"...

Paul´s firt album is good: "Junk", "Too many people", "Teddy boy", "Tht would be something". "Ram" has good songs too but I hardly recall them...

John Lennon: I would burn everything... I mean, on cds!

Well, my list is quite similar to Ron's. Allow me to expand on it a bit.

George - All Those years Ago or Got My Mind Set On You and Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth).

Paul - Maybe I'm Amazed, Every Night, Another Day, Let 'Em In, My Love.

John - Happy Christmas-War Is Over,Watching The Wheels Go Round, Whatever Gets You Through The Night, Jealous Guy, Just Like Starting Over and I've always liked The Ballad Of John and Yoko.

Ringo - The No-No Song..it's fun and Vinie Poncia plays real loud on it..LOL

Jr., you must let us know what songs you end up using. Might be a triple disc set, huh?

Then burn some extras and sell 'em to us.

"Gimme some truth" is amazing... lyrics and music...

I?m sick and tired of hearing things

From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics

All I want is the truth

Just gimme some truth

I?ve had enough of reading things

By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians

All I want is the truth

Just gimme some truth

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky

Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me

With just a pocketful of hope

Money for dope

Money for rope

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky

Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me

With just a pocketful of soap

Money for dope

Money for rope

I?m sick to death of seeing things

From tight-lipped, condescending, mama?s little chauvinists

All I want is the truth

Just gimme some truth now

I?ve had enough of watching scenes

Of schizophrenic, ego-centric, paranoiac, prima-donnas

All I want is the truth now

Just gimme some truth

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky

Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me

With just a pocketful of soap

It?s money for dope

Money for rope

Ah, I?m sick and tired of hearing things

From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites

All I want is the truth now

Just gimme some truth now

I?ve had enough of reading things

By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians

All I want is the truth now

Just gimme some truth now

All I want is the truth now

Just gimme some truth now

All I want is the truth

Just gimme some truth

All I want is the truth

Just gimme some truth

John - I've always liked The Ballad Of John and Yoko.

I always thought this was considered the Beatle's final single record. Paul plays and sings harmony, George plays guitar and I just figured that was Ringo on drums.

MUSICAL INTERLUDE:

"Down in the jungle living in a tent

You don't use money you don't pay rent

You don't ever know the time

But you don't mind

Ho hey ho

Ho hey ho

When your light is on the blink

You never think of worrying

What's the use of worrying?

When your bus has left the stop

You'd better drop your hurrying

What's the use of hurrying?

Leave me alone Mrs Vanderbilt

I've got plenty of time of my own

What's the use of worrying?

What's the use of hurrying?

What's the use of anything?

Ho hey ho

Ho hey ho"

Ringo's second solo album, a Country/Western effort called Beaucoups Of Blues was a stupendous crossover flop.

But a friend bought it, and we listened to it quite a bit. Ringo's vocals are not great (not surprising) but the back-up players are big league, and the lyrics and arrangements in some of these songs are pretty interesting.

I remember the title song and Love Don't Last Long in particular.

I am reading George Harrison's book "I, Me, Mine" at the moment and in it he explains the meaning/purpose/reason to each of the songs he wrote. I never realised he wrote so many great songs and how fantastically talented he was!!

My first ever favourite song was 'Got My Mind Set On You' by George. I was four years old and I adored it!! ::
