RonJonSurfer
Stars Rock Out For New Baseball Season Reformed rockers Huey Lewis & The News, Presidents of the United States of America and Slash are kicking off the new baseball season in style by performing pre-game anthems at their favorite stadiums. Lewis' group played live just before the San Francisco Giants' home opener against California rivals the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday and the Presidents performed before the Seattle Mariners' first game on Monday. But former Guns N' Roses star Slash is sure to make baseball's rock highlights reel when he performs both the "Star Spangled Banner" and Canada's national anthem "O Canada" when the Toronto Blue Jays kick off their season at home Friday. RonJonSurfer
Wearing half a Toronto Blue Jays jersey and half a Boston Red Sox jersey, guitar legend Slash performed the American and Canadian national anthems at a game between the two teams Friday night in Toronto. Slash, taking a break from his current North American tour with Velvet Revolver, walked onto the field with his signature large black hat, as the two teams stood opposite each other on the base lines. He kept the anthems basic, but added his own improved twist at the end of the Canadian anthem. The Jays entertained a nearly sold out crowd at this, its home opener, and first home game since renaming their SkyDome stadium the Rogers Centre. The Trailer Park Boys threw out the first pitch, before the Jays lost.
