I caught a little of this.

IMO, they could have left Lucy off the list. Contrary to popular belief, not everyone loved Lucy. To me, she was irritating.

There's a difference between being funny and "Look at me, I'm being funny" Lucy was the latter.

On the whole I think it was a decent list. Archie Bunker as #1 is a wise choice, from both a fan stand point and a critical stand point.

I would argue some placement of characters a little but, not much of an arguement of oversight.

My Top Five:

5. jessica Fletcher

4. Lucy Ricardo

3. Mork

2. Hawkeye Pierce

1. Archie Bunker

Honorable Mentions:

Sylvia (golden girls)

Dr. Mark Greene

Dana Scully

If I was in Raymond's family, I would have choked every f***ing one of them to death - starting with Raymond - and I would have enjoyed doing it. Then I would have made myself a pizza and sat down and watched reruns of "Married With Children", which is a hundred times funnier and a thousand times more realistic.

All in all, a pretty good list. My top 10 in descending order:

1. Archie Bunker

2. Mr. Spock

3. Hawkeye Pierce

4. Jim Rockford - the best private dick in television history.

5. Barney Fife

6. Colonel Henry Blake

7. Captain Kirk - The man was a walking hormone. Human, alien or artificial life form, it was all the same to Kirk. He could kick Picard's backside without even working up a sweat.

8. Mary Richards

9. Edith Bunker

10. Joe Friday

I also think that the character of Lucy was overrated. IMO, Desi Arnaz was the unsung comic genius in that show.

I?m glad to see someone who shares the same shear hatred for ?Everybody Loves Raymond? I hate it with every fiber of my being, it?s the stupidest show on television. They keep crap like that on TV yet were on the verge of canceling Arrested Development, which I my mind is up there as one of the funniest shows on TV right now. TV executives, what goes through their minds?

Looks like a list intentionally compiled to list both old and new shows in order to appeal to all rather than a serious survey. Where's Sgt. Schultz !? Cliff Clayburn ? Norm ? Maude ? JR Ewing ? Mr. Roarke and Tatoo ? Steve Austin ?

What if I lose the remote control? Then, what do I do?

Kick in the f***ing TV set. I hate that show, too.

Maude

MUSICAL THEME SONG INTERLUDE:

Lady Godiva was a freedom rider,

She didn't care of the whole world looked.

Joan of Arc, with the lord to guide her,

She was a sister who really cooked.

Isadora was a first bra burner

Aint' ya glad she showed up?

And when the country was falling apart

Betsy Ross got it all sewed up

And then there's Maude

And then there's Maude

And then there's that old

compromisin, enterprisin' anything but traqulizin'

Right on Maude!!!
