fidelityfiend
I just um, procured the latest by these guys - "The Dirty South" this past weekend. I was ill-prepared for the onslaught contained within. I first heard of them a couple of years ago, a friend suggested them and said to watch for them, it would only be a matter of time before they hit. Well...... they've hit hard. I had heard a couple of songs on the local public radio station WMNF 88.5 - www.wmnf.org - here in Tampa (always a good sign when they get airplay on non-commercial radio) and liked what I heard so I figured I'd check them out. They play nasty greasy rock n roll with some country overtones - picture a bastard child spawned of Dinosaur Jr and Johnny Cash. I know that's hard to fathom but it's the closest I can come up with. Listen for yourself. The lyrical content is working man's blues - very topical and opinionated. Not for everyone but right up my alley.
Addictedtoclassic
I picked up Southern Rock Opera (a 2-disc rock opera about Lynyrd Skynyrd) a couple weeks ago and it's absolutely wonderful. A total modern Southern Rock band! I would love to see these guys in concert. I only wish there was a radio station around here that played non-mainstream music. fidelityfiend
ATC - you can stream the one I mentioned above and listen to it on your computer for free!!! Be warned though - lots of leftside politics and they play a VERY wide variety of music as well. Best times to listen are 6:00am to noon and 2:00pm to 6:00pm IMHO. Enjoy. Addictedtoclassic
I don't pay much attention to politics and I yearn for variety. I'll have to check it out sometime. Thanks FF!
