Mike
Books and Albums links to Amazon!! "Traveling Music (subtitle: The Soundtrack to my life and times)" could be added to http://www.songfacts.com/detail.lasso?id=4211 Also many of the books Neil uses to derrive his lyrics from, (Hemmingway, Ayn Rand, etc.) in addition I know I recently submitted a song (Heresy - http://www.songfacts.com/detail.lasso?id=3858 ) that referred to the drum parts he learned/used from his travels in Africa (from Neils "The Masked Rider" book) Also why not have a small album cover icon appear say next to the listing. For example I look up the song Test for Echo at http://www.songfacts.com/detail.lasso?id=3413 and next to the title of the album is this image... hot linked to amazon http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002NRQUW/102-9896566-4380148?v=glance If we did this for every album listed in the songfacts data base this would greatly increase the hits from this site. Also under artistfacts we could put any books about the band linked to amazon, for example Rush facts http://www.songfacts.com/artistfacts/getArtistfacts.lasso?combinedartists=Rush could be linked to an image of Contest Under Pressure - 30 years of Rush like this one linked to amazons page for this book - http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1550226789/026-9155858-1638042 And so on, and so on, and they told two friends ... Thanks, Mike
Earth-Angel
Excellent ideas! Perhaps after someone has answered a question posted in Q&A, they could find a small picture of the album/book/CD cover and post it there with a direct link to Amazon? If you look at the "who's online" screen, there are so many people browsing through Q&A at all times of the day and night
Addictedtoclassic
"Last 3 CD's You Bought" thread could have links to Amazon.
Mike
Well, I don't know about message board links, seems that might be debatable. But if you sign up for amazon (it's free) and review an album you can mention you found about the songs origins at Songfacts.com in your review, this will help steer people to the Songfacts database to learn about the songs as well. Intead of the cirle of life it's the circle of songs
Addictedtoclassic
Yeah, because it's not like we don't already have over 36,200 members with 40 - 70 anonymous browsing at one time. I was more thinking about something similiar to the Amazon "pillar" shown at the top of the forums pages.
Earth-Angel
Where is the most traffic flow on a 24 hour basis? Concentrate the advertising and links there. That's all I'm going to say
Addictedtoclassic
That's a good idea. But what I'd like to be able to do is create a link that would offer a commission to our wonderful admin's while we're referencing albums in our threads. I already PM'd Sara about it... Sara
You guys are full of great ideas! I like your idea addicted, we had the same thought but to create the links to specific CDs we have to use Amazon's link builder that is only accessible through our affiliate account. Feel free to use this link that goes to the main music page: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect?tag=songfactscom-20&path=tg/browse/-/5174
