katie_sane
"Whenever society gets too stifling and the rules get too complex, there's some sort of musical explosion" I found this quote by Slash from Guns n' Roses and I think that he is spot on. What does everyone else think of Slash and his infinite wisdom??
Tenacious_Peaches
It's difficult for me to think of Slash and wisdom at the same time, but that quote is right on. I'm waiting for some sort of musical explosion to come around at any moment now. I'm not knocking Slash, by the way. He rocks hard and long, man. littlestomper
I think Slash hit it right on the head. When things get to be too much to handle or there's to much 'control', people find other ways to express themselves: the easiest and most moving being music. Let's face it, society would be in the dumps right now if it weren't for music. A musical explosion would be awesome right now! A lot of people could really benifit from it... Kevin
Sounds like the excuse he gave to countless hotel managers over why he trashed the place.
Addictedtoclassic
The Wisdom Of Slash, that sounds like an oxymoron! That's like Keith Richards writing a book titled: "Drugs are bad"

miamisammy29
Here's another quote from the venerable Mr. Hudson: "When we were just an up and coming band and living together in a small apartment, I'd f**k women just so I could stay at their places." Tenacious_Peaches
Slash is such a prophet, isn't he? Here are a few quotes...try and decide if they are Slash or Gandhi. "Peace will not come out of a clash of arms but out of justice lived and done by unarmed nations in the face of odds." "It has that kind of immediate -- what's that word I'm looking for -- immediacy?" "A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave." "Everybody f**king thinks about this sh*t way too much. It's not that complicated." "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." "It reminds me of ... just sweaty, grindy, greasy sex stuff." It's hard to tell them apart, ne c'est pas?
Fife
I dont nessasarily think that this idea is confined to only music. I believe art in general thrives under conditions where the outlook on live is bleak. For example consider the reformation and the great painters and musical composers that came out of this period. Slash hit the nail on the head
