brudjazz
Back in 1997 or 1998 or so, I downloaded a sound clip from some website that was based out of Germany (I think). The sound clip had these words in it "fun in the sun..." It was up-beat and really had me pumped for Spring. Does anyone have an idea what the name of that song was? This is a GREAT website, now I can learn all about the songs I've listened to for year :-)
Elvish
Hi, Brudjazz. Welcome to Songfacts! Do you remember if the singer was a male or female? I found a raggae song with those lyrics, but thought you would probably remember if the song was in that style. Anything else you can recall would be helpful! ::
Minky
The only thing I can suggest is the theme tune to UK sci-fi sit-com 'Red Dwarf'. Quite why it would be featured on a random German website escapes me but it does fit the bill lyric-wise. Great programme too. And here, indeed, are those very lyrics: It's cold outside, there's no kind of atmosphere, I'm all alone, more or less, Let me fly, far away from here, Fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun... I want to lie shipwrecked and comatose, Drinking fresh mango juice, Goldfish shoals, nibbling at my toes, Fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun... Fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun... Jenny
Blondie has a song called "In the Sun" that you might want to check out. It's on the "Blondie" album.
Earth-Angel
I was thinking it might be Janet Jackson's Whoops now. "Whoops now, sorry I can't go I'm out in the sun having fun with my friends", but the time period is slightly off.

katie_sane
As soon as I saw this post I thought of 'California Sun' by the Ramones. Uncle, is the Ramones version a cover of the Rivieras song you mentioned??
Uncle Joe
I've never heard the Ramones' version, Katie. But, sounds probable.
