The Thread Of LISTS

I always wondered why those softcore rap songs are categorised in Rhythm & Blues :crazy:

The original R&B wasn't about rap/hiphop at all.

Good post Viaene. :)

I don't know either why the Chartmakers do that. :P

Here's a bit of a Timeline of Billboard's R & B Singles Charts.

* Commenced in 1942 as "HARLEM HIT PARADE"

* Title changed in 1945 to "JUKE BOX RACE RECORDS"

* 1949 to "RHYTHM & BLUES"

* 1958 to "HOT R&B CHART"

* Chart discontinued late 1963, recommenced early 1965

* Title changed in 1969 to "SOUL SINGLES"

* 1982 to "BLACK SINGLES"

* 1990 to "R&B SINGLES"

* 1999 to "R&B/HIP-HOP" and album tracks are included as well as Singles.

For bands like Rush that have many, many songs that fit the category, I chose the ones I like most.

Some artists, like Neil Young, I left out just to piss off other SF users. :P
