Many people may best know him as the organist on Bob Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone", which was his FIRST attempt at playing organ! He was also (briefly) a member of a 50s Group the Royal Teens, but that was after their big Hit "Short Shorts". SONGFACTS tells us he played french horn and organ on the Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want". He ALSO played piano on it. ........................................................... bazooka
B. Which Country/Pop singer is one of 11 children? Hey, give Kevin the points! Charley Pride.."was one of 11 children raised on a 40 acre farm." and generated "country-pop crossover appeal."
OLD 55
Well bazooka, Kevin and I have already sorted this out thanks. He was most gracious, realising that I am fallible and had the courtesy to send me a private message. Right now I'm checking out some of the others in case I've shortchanged anyone else ! Kevin sent me this information: "Charley Pride's life-long motto is "Get It Done". He means what he says. Charley became the first black entertainer to attain superstar status in country music history. He was born in Sledge, Mississippi on March 18, 1938. Charley was one of 11 children raised on a 40 acre farm. He often helped to pick cotton along with the rest of his family." The person I was thinking of was Glen Campbell, the 7th of 11 children. Sorry again Kevin ! 5 Points to you Mate for Charley Pride and 2 Points each to Katie for Dolly Parton (12) AND Laurie for Dottie West (10), who did have a big Pop Hit with Kenny Rogers in 1981, "What Are We Doin' In Love". THANKS TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED!
