Uncle Joe
1. Drat! I wanted to catch edna in the points standings. Well, there's always February. 2. I can see that this Katie is going to be a real factor in this quiz from now on. Good thing she was a late-comer to the game or she may have captured January. 3. Sure looks like Katie and Carole are gonna share the points for this one. 4. Old 55, let me be the first to wish you and your little lady a wonderful holiday later this month. miamisammy29
Question B: - "Girls Talk" by Dave Edmunds WELL DONE SAMMY ! THAT'S THE ONE. :happybanana: :happybanana: :happybanana: :happybanana: :happybanana: :happybanana: :happybanana: :happybanana: :happybanana: :happybanana: :happybanana: :happybanana: Dave Edmunds is probably best known for his cover of the old Smiley Lewis song "I Hear You Knocking". 5 POINTS to you and 1 to Addict for participating. I've liked Dave Edmunds since his days with Nick Lowe and Rockpile. These guys were the kings of the resurgence of rockabilly. I believe Nick "The Basher" Lowe produced a few of Elvis Costello's early albums, and Dave Edmunds' as well. Nick Lowe rocks!! :happybanana: :happybanana:
edna
There are some things you can´t cover up With lipstick and powder Thought I heard you mention my name Can't you talk any louder Don't come any closer, don't come any nearer My vision of you can't come any clearer Oh, I just wanna hear girls talk Got a loaded imagination bein' fired by girls' talk It's a more or less situation inspired by girls' talk But I can't say the words you wanna hear I suppose you're gonna have to play it by ear, right here And now, girls talk And they wanna know how girls talk And they say it's not allowed, girls talk If they say that it's so Don't they think that I'd know by now Got the word up on everyone's lipstick That you're getting faded You may not be an old-fashioned girl But you're gonna get dated Was it really murder, were you just pretending Lately I've heard you are the living end Girls talk, and they wanna know how girls talk And they say it's not allowed, girls talk And they think they know how girls talk If they say that it's so Don't they think that I'd now by now But I can't say the words you wanna hear I suppose you're gonna have to play it by ear, I hear There are some things you can't cover up With lipstick and powder But I heard you mention my name Can't you talk any louder Don't come any closer, don't come any nearer My vision of you can't come any clearer Girls talk, and they wanna know how girls talk And they say it's not allowed, girls talk And they think they know how girls talk Girls talk, girls talk Girls talk, girls talk Girls talk, girls talk Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah girls talk Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah girls talk
edna
Sammy, did you know Nick Lowe released an album called "Bowi" coz David Bowie had one before called "Low"? That you must know, but the funny thing is that when Bowie was asked about it he got very angry and he said that it was no fun at all!

edna
That´s it, UncleJoe. I´d post the lyric but my foambath is waiting! It goes:"Oh I can´t stand another heartache," etc. I´ll post the lyrics when I´m back if nobody did before. I like Rockpile!
miamisammy29
I'll take this one. Thanks, Edna. Ladies and gentleman, please welcome...NICK LOWE AND THE TEXTONES (featuring Dave Edmunds on guitar)!! MUSICAL INTERLUDE: "Oh, I can't stand another heartache Though you say you're my friend, I'm at my wit's end You say your love is bona-fide, but that don't coincide With the things that you do And when I ask you to be nice, you say... You gotta be cruel to be kind in the right measure Cruel to be kind, it's a very good sign Cruel to be kind, means that I love you Baaaaaby, you gotta be cruel to be kind Well I do my best to understand, dear But you still mystify, and I wanna know why I pick myself up off the ground To have you knock me back down, again and again And when I ask you to explain, you say... You gotta be cruel to be kind in the right measure Cruel to be kind, it's a very good sign Cruel to be kind, means that I love you Baaaaaby, you gotta be cruel to be kind Well I do my best to understand, dear But you still mystify, and I wanna know why I pick myself up off the ground To have you knock me back down, again and again And when I ask you to explain, you say... edna
Oh, I don´t know about Eugene Levy, Dear Uncle... See, I made my bet on sunny Spain and I ´m missing some things... Alf in its original version, pretzels, etc. Sammy, thanks for posting that song, I´ve been singing it during my long-time foam-bath while the others fixed the dinner, so now I must clean, no time for googling nor copy&pasting!! It´s just fair! I guess I´ll post "Mother´s little helper" one of these days...
OLD 55
Well, it just might be.... Question A - "Riders On The Storm" - The Doors. QUESTION B: Dion, Bob Dylan and Stuart Sutcliffe were all on the cover of the Beatles 1967 album 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'. WELL DONE UncleJoe and katie sane. You've GOT to feel sorry for Windy though on Question A - right Band, but not the song. Sammy also. If I'd been trying for that one I would have guessed Freddie Mercury - that's why I just write the questions and let the Experts answer them. SO 5 points to Uncle and 2 to Windy on that one. Katie killed Question B, nailed it in one. 5 points to her! I can't really give any 2 pointers in that one. We're not going on Holidays until Monday 14th February our time (Valentine's Day - second Honeymoon?) till Friday 4th March. Thanks to you all for your kind wishes. I'll end the February Quiz at SONGFACTS TIME 12.01 AM Sunday 13th (6 PM our time). POINTS AFTER THOSE TWO QUIZZES: UncleJoe 6 katie sane 5 Windy1, edna, miamisammy 2 Don't forget you always get one point for attempting a question, which could be important when we see just how close last month was. OLD 55
NEW QUESTION: (Hope you can get into the site to have a go at it). I just can't resist putting on an Elvis question. A female Movie Star said this after her first visit to Graceland. She did appear in a Musical but she's not recognized as a singer. "...it was awful. He can sing, but he can't do much else". She did go back again though. WHO do you think it was???
