Winger20
Hello, I'm trying to make a CD for someone who has helped me realize that everyone has the strength to be strong, and face many things. My mother was murdered 9 months ago, and the trial is in two weeks. And there has been one person who has helped me deal and face this with strength. The songs on this CD are about changing, learning etc..I also need this CD for myself to play while I testify in my mother's own murder trial. I dont have many songs..I'm trying to find those perfect songs. 1) Blind Melon - Changes 2) Foo Fighters - Learn to Fly 3) Foo Fighters - Times Like These 4) Creed - Higher Any ideas? New..old..anything..
scott
Learning To Fly- Tom Petty That's not in any way related to the Foo Fighter's song BTW, it's just that a lot (a lot a lot a lot) of songs incorporate 'learning to fly' Learning to Fly (Petty) is an excellent song though, and is exactly what you're looking for. Jenny
To continue on the Petty theme, how about "I Won't Back Down".
SoulGirl
it's not so much an 'empowering' song but it's one which always makes me feel better: 'everything's not lost' by coldplay (last track on parachutes album). i'm really sorry to hear about your loss. i can't even imagine what you must be going through. mind yourself and i hope you find some peace through this process. best wishes! Brian
How about "Calling All Angels" by Train. I especially think the part that sings, "I wont give up if you dont give up." Could be of strength to you and your 'Angel' that is helping you through this ordeal. You are going through an unbelievably traumatic ordeal. My heart is with you. I think I speak for the rest of the forum when I say that if you need someone to talk to, by all means post away. We will be here for you!
katie_sane
A song that empowers me is 'Baba O'Reily' by The Who. Roger Daltrey has a really awe-inspiring voice, kinda makes you wanna really get into it. :happybanana:

edna
Jimmy Cliff - The Harder They Come Great guess, Steely! The Harder They Come Jimmy Cliff Well, they tell me of a pie up in the sky Waiting for me when I die But between the day you're born and when you die You know, they never seem to hear even your cry Chorus: So as sure as the sun will shine I'm gonna get my share now what is mine And then the harder they come The harder they fall One and all The harder they come The harder they fall One and all And the oppressors are trying to track me down They're trying to drive me underground And they think that they have got the battle won I say, forgive them Lord, they know not what they've done Chorus And I keep on fighting for the things I want Though I know that when you're dead you can't But I'd rather be a free man in my grave Than living as a puppet or a slave
