What do you guys think about the Eagles. When we talk about the Eagles, we normally talk about Hotel California. It gets a little old. Lets talk about some of there other songs. They are touring right now, and they are visiting Atlanta, Georgia very soon....PEACHES!

We were talking of one song in Questions and Answers called Seven Bridges Road, and i mentioned Hole in the World, but theres so many great songs by them.

Whats your favorite???

Take it to the Limit has one of the best lines ever in a song, IMO

"If it all fell to pieces tomorrow,

Would you still be mine?"

Thats one of my favourites as well...

Along with 'Life In The Fast Lane' and 'Witchy Woman'...I had to redecorate the house I was living in last October, and had bought their Greatest Hits album the night before I started. I blasted it out while I was painting the bathroom...windows wide open and singing my heart out :headphones:

You can't go wrong with "Victim of Love" and "Already Gone". These guys have some bad relationship problems...don't they.

"I heard about you and that man..

There's just one thing I don't understand..

You said he's a liar and he put out fire..

How come you still got his gun in your hand?"

or

"Well I heard some people talking just the other day..

and they said you were gonna put me on a shelf..

Well let me tell you I got some news for you..

and you'll soon find out it true..

Then you'll have to eat your lunch all by yourself."

Actually, they seem to be going on alot of hearsay too. :shades:

From "Already Gone":

"I was standin' on a corner

In Winslow, Arizona

Such a fine sight to see.

It's a girl my lord

In a flat bed Ford

Slowin' down to take a look at me."

Winslow is a pretty small city about a 3 hour drive from my hometown. They put up a statue and plaque, with the above lyrics, on the corner of the main street in tribute to the song.

Eagle Greatest Hits '71 - '75 - over 28 million albums sold, #1 all time.(US)

I like "James Dean" and "On the Border" from their 2nd album.

One of mine, too!

IMO, Hotel California is one of the best albums ever. Unfortunately some of the best songs on it are overshadowed by the hits. I love Wasted Time, Pretty Maids All in a Row, and The Last Resort.

A couple more that I really enjoy are Tequila Sunrise and Best of My Love

Good on you Psycho for raising this thread! :coolio:

I was looking at some people's lists in the "Favorite Bands" thread recently and thinking "What about the Eagles??" (+ a couple of other great Bands, such as ELO who now have a thread also).

I like what Elvish said about many of their best songs being lost among the Hits, and also agree with her on the "Hotel California" guitar solo. Sammy hit on quite a few of them in his Top 15. Sammy, there was an Australian group in the late 70s who called themselves "Ol 55" with an album they called "Take It (Gr)easy" ! They did 50s style numbers, but were obviously Eagles fans.

One of my favorite album tracks from LONG RUN is "Sad Cafe". It's just a beautiful song.

"Oh, it seemed like a holy place,

Protected by amazing grace

And we would sing right out loud, the

Things we could not say

We thought we could change this world

With words like "love" and "freedom"

We were part of the lonely crowd

Inside the sad cafe"

:)

I saw the Eagles live in November while they were touring Australia. They were excellent  I loved every minute of it! Don Henley's voice is so pure and clear, especially when he sang 'Desperado'. Don even said two of his solo hits, 'Boys Of Summer' and 'All She Wants To Do Is Dance'.

My fave Eagles songs are 'Doolin' Dalton', 'Best Of My Love', 'Certain Kind Of Fool', 'New Kid In Town' and 'Hotel California' :happybanana:

I think that's from "Take It Easy" by Mr. Jackson Browne. Done nicely by The Eagles.
