I don´t usually like covers neither... but yesterday I took a tape for the car and there was that amazing cover of "Needles and Pins" by the Ramones... "These foolish things", by Bryan Ferry... "They don´t know about love" and "Breakaway" by Tracey Ullman, as well as "I will survive" by Cake and "My Way", Sex Pistols, which I must admit can´t compare to the original by either Sinatra in English or Claude François, his author, in French. My fave covers are still Hendrix´s "All along the watchtower" and Elvis "Tomorrow is long time", both Dylan´s.

I agree with edna and Trampled, 'Needles & Pins' by The Ramones is an excellent cover!!!

I think Marilyn Manson does a good cover. His versions of the Eurythmics 'Sweet Dreams', The Ramones 'The KKK Took My Baby Away' and AC/DC's 'Highway To Hell' are really good.

Metallica has done some really good covers, especially of Thin Lizzy's 'Whiskey In The Jar', Bob Seger's 'Turn The Page' and Blue Oyster Cult's 'Astronomy'.

Triple X, do you know the cover of "La distancia" (Roberto Carlos) by Mick Karn, "Sensitive"? I think it´s really amazing...

Mick Karn played bass with Japan, that you must know...

I gotta get this. Not only do I love Japan and Mick Karn's work, but I've been a fan of Roberto Carlos for a lot longer :headphones:

It's time to question the world of SongFacts for their opinion on this week's show theme.

What are the best remakes? I'm looking for both the original and the new version here. I have my own share of the list, but I am looking for imput and other people's opinions.

Examples:

"Behind Blue Eyes" -The Who/Limp Bizkit

"Raspberry Beret" -Prince/Hindu Love Gods (Warren Zevon)

"Knocking on Heaven's Door" -Dylan/Warren Zevon/G&R

"Tush" -ZZ Top/Nazareth

Openning up for opinion. The show will air Wednesday April 6th at 8pm (EST) on www.wqaq.com (98.1FM in the Hamden, CT area). The way it's structered is the first hour will be all the originals, and the second hour will be the exact same playlist, except the newer versions.

I'm A Man by Chicago comes to mind as an excellent remake. I believe the original is by The Spencer Davis group. Also, back in the late 70's there was disco version of this same song which sounded quite similiar to Chicago's version. I can not recall the name of that group who performed it.

I am not a fan of Beatle's remakes with the exception of Come Together. Aerosmith's version which was featured in the Sgt. Pepper's movie back in 1978 was excellent. I would highly recommend putting this on your show.
