Elpaso
I've been in a band for a couple of years, and a couple of months ago our drummer died of a heroin overdose. A few months later and im kinda coming to terms with it, so i thought i'd put together a CD that deals with the loss of a friend. Thing is.. even though i thought i was quite knowledgeble about songs it turns out i can only find two!! (Gone Away, and End of the Line - both by The Offspring)Wondering if you could help me find some more! it would be really appreciated! cheers Jim
scott
Under The Bridge and Tearjerker, both by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, seem very appropriate for the situation.
Elvish
Red Hot Chili Pepper's "My Lovely Man" is about this exact situation - almost. I believe it was their guitarist that died of a heroin oversdose. Also, Temple of the Dog was a short-lived supergroup composed of members of Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone and Eddie Vedder (prior to Pearl Jam). They made one self-titled album in tribute to Mother Love Bone's lead singer who also died of a heroin overdose. click here for links to song clips. There are some pretty awesome songs on this CD: Say Hello to Heaven Please, mother mercy Take me from this place And the long winded curses I keep hearing in my head Words never listen And teachers never learn Now I?m warm from the candle But I feel too cold to burn He came from an island And he died from the street He hurt so bad like a soul breaking But he never said nothing to me So say hello to heaven New like a baby Lost like a prayer The sky was your playground But the cold ground was your bed Poor stargazer She?s got no tears in her eyes Smooth like whisper She knows that love heals all wounds with time Now it seems like too much love Is never enough, you better seek out Another road ?cause this one has Ended abrupt, say hello to heaven I never wanted To write these words down for you With the pages of phrases Of things we?ll never do So I blow out the candle, and I put you to bed Since you can?t say to me Now how the dogs broke your bone There?s just one thing left to be said Say hello to heaven

_jr_
Needle and the Damage Done may not be about bereavement, but it certainly makes a statement.
scott
There are a couple more that I thought of Black Cadillacs- Modest Mouse Float On- Modest Mouse (it might not make much sense at first, but if you get the background story on the song, and analyze it a bit......) windy1
It seems to me not many people know of this song , it's not especially for beravement, but fits a death of a close friend or family member. you must listen to the words. cuchelo1
i know it's country so i'll probably get flak for suggesting this, but wynonna judd had two songs on her very first solo album that were amazing: "never easy to say good-bye" and "when i reach the place i'm going".
