"We didn't start the fire"

Recommended Posts

Maybe it's just me, but "JFK blown away " is a bit over the top and harsh, don't ya think?

Well, everything in the song actually happened. I guess the phrasing is a bit blunt. Let's see, what could he have said...Hmmmm

JFK, shot dead,

that's what I said.

No.

JFK lost his head.... uh, nope.

JKF wounded bad

Now isn't that real sad

Yeccccccch.

JFK, blown away

what else do I have to say

That gets it done.

See, it aint so easy.

I think the Kinks worded it the best in "Give The People What They Want":

MUSICAL INTERLUDE:

"When Oswald shot Kennedy, he was insane

But still we watch the reruns again and again

We all sit glued while the killer takes aim.......

'Hey Mom, they got a piece of the President's brain.'

Give the people what they want

You gotta give the people what they want

Blow out your brains, and do it right

Make sure it's prime time and on a Saturday night.

:guitar: :guitar: :guitar: :guitar: :guitar: :guitar:

You gotta give the people what they want

You gotta give the people what they want."

I think Billy made it harsh to get his point across. What I think is harsh is that apparently there is a video game where you are the gunman and are able to shoot JFK. I've not seen it, but I heard it was very realistic. You have to go far down the road to offend me, but I think that is in bad taste.
