X-Ray is the "unauthorized autobiograhy" of Ray Davies of the Kinks.

It's written in an unusual way. Ray relates true stories and some fabrications to a fictional interviewer.

Davies is a fantastic storyteller.

Marianne Faithfull wrote her own biography... though it might not be so interesting as it seems, (she´s not always telling the truth, said a couple of Rolling Stones...) I´ve been told that she tells many stories about the rock scene and the book is very good (I didn´t read it...)

George Harrison's autobiography I, Me, Mine is good, but the vast majority of the book is filled with lyrics and pictures. What George did actually write is great.

Scars of Sweet Paradise: The Life and Times of Janis Joplin by Alice Echols is wonderful, but I also enjoyed Love, Janis, which was written by her sister Laura Joplin.

Willie Nelson's Willie written with Bud Shrake, is very interesting and colorful. Willie's reflections are interspersed with the recollections of friends and family - even an ex-wife! It's an autobiography like none I've ever read.

For Love or Country- Arturo Sandoval

We watched it today in band. We had played a song he wrote in jazz band, but man, he is a great trumpet player. I went to his site after I saw that movie. It's a really good movie.

The Beatles--Anthology (it costs a fortune, or at least it did when I bought it)

Keith Moon--Dear Boy by Tony Fletcher, an awesome book. The American issue is called Moon-Life and Death of A Rock Legend.

How could I forget this one - it's huge; by far the largest book I own. And I know what you mean about the cost - but it's been out in paperback for a few years now.

And it´s got pretty much info about the Beatles... only it´s been supervised by Paul McCartney, and that gives his special point of view.

I have the big one, my husband couldn´t wait for paperback to buy it for me.

Mine too - aren't they sweet? We should really give them more than socks and underwear for Christmas, huh? ;)
