Uncle Joe Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 Heard this one on the news this morning. The kids (now adults) who sang on Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall" are suing Pink Floyd. They were paid the equivalent of $100.00 each for their part on the recording. They now want royalties that would total about $300.00 each. A mere $300.00...LOL. Guess what? Floyd is refusing to settle on principle. Apparently the little bastards didn't eat their meat and now they want their pudding. Any views?
Tenacious_Peaches Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 Apparently the little bastards didn't eat their meat and now they want their pudding. I love you, Joe.
Aunt_Acid Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 Apparently the little bastards didn't eat their meat and now they want their pudding. I want to shake your hand.
Danielj Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 I cant see this being true or some reason, because somewhere I heard that the song only used four kids and just overdubbed lots of times.
cosmosis Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 hired musicians don't get royalties. And they are asking for 300 lol. And what I heard is that the band settled for one copy of the album to each kid. Did you know that after The Wall Rick was technicly a hired musician? ::
edna Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 hired musicians don't get royalties. Absolutelly right, Cosmo... it´s always been like that.
Kevin Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 Laywer fees $ 2000.00 + ; who's really laughing here ?
Aunt_Acid Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 I cant see this being true or some reason, because somewhere I heard that the song only used four kids and just overdubbed lots of times. I heard the same thing, Dan. Rick Wright. A hired musician. Come on, this is the guy who wrote Great Gig In The Sky!
cosmosis Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 It's a fact man. They felt like he was not contributing enough in the writing. You know, the bigger the band, the bigger the egos.
Aunt_Acid Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 I blame Roger Waters as far as the drama goes. I know Dave Gilmour had an ego too, but Roger Waters just needed to not be such an [bleep]. I'm sure he isn't really that much of an [bleep], it's just that writing the best music in the world goes to your head after a while.
cosmosis Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 it's just that writing the best music in the world goes to your head after a while. funny stuff. I do think Waters was a control freak. But I think the main thing is that Rogers wanted to do more experimental music while Dave was on the more traditional/soulful side and kinda went along. I'm just glad they lasted enough to record The Wall (phew!).
Aunt_Acid Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 Oh, I've been bleeped. [bleep] wonderful.
Mandalynn Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 I totally was jealous of those kids...wanted to be one of them!
The Seeker Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 They're suing them, what, about 30 years after the recording? I would at least try and get more than just 300 $.
RonJonSurfer Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 I heard (maybe six months ago) that the women singing on Dark Side of the Moon was also suing them. Not happy with what she got paid vs. the end result $$$$. Of course, she agreed to that amount 30 years ago and she should be happy to part of rock history.
Aunt_Acid Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 Yeah. People need to take in consideration when they agree to do something like that how big the album could be. If you are kicking yourself 30 years later because you agreed to a small amount, oh well.
evan33594 Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 my brother bought one of the "masks" from the wall for like 400 bucks (his life savings)
Danielj Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 I would PAY Pink Floyd to have me sing with them. And by pay i mean A LOT.
