A Sonnet (Untitled)

I wrote this as a piece for my poetry class and I ended up absolutely loving it. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

Say goodbye to a world you never had.

Shattered fragments fade into the vastness

Of your eyes. The night no longer holds sad

Connotations, only the stained plastic

Of lies. Find no more peace in seclusion,

Empty sheets of canvas wither and turn

Black against the jaundice light. Delusions

Of nightmares sweep anguish anew and spurn

All hope of beauty in a graying space.

And yet, still you wish you might once go back;

Back to a world and a time and a place

You reached, if only in dreams. Do not pack

Away your passions on a broken shelf.

In the grips of loss will you find yourself.
