Like The Grass, All Men Shall Wither

I got the idea for this after hearing some proverb.

He went on a trip, to get away from it all

On a boat out in the sea; the captain in a sea of alcohol

When the boat was thrown ashore on a small isle

He frantically searched for his phone. Life had such guile.

Like the grass, all men shall wither.

Wither, wither, with or without.

Misfortune, creeping up like a snake

Like a dark black storm cloud on the horizon,

Like the grass, all men shall wither

Wither, wither, with or without.

Getting off work, his phone rang

His job had been outsourced, he felt fear?s pang.

Driving home to tell his wife

He yelled, and cursed his life

Like the grass, all men shall wither.

Wither, wither, with or without.

Misfortune, creeping up like a snake

Like a dark black storm cloud on the horizon,

Like the grass, all men shall wither

Wither, wither, with or without.

Down in the gutter, a vagrant sat, wasting away

He answered a ringing pay phone in the street-side array.

Some stroke of luck, now he?s rich beyond his wildest thoughts

Looking down upon the bums he drives by, bewildered and distraught

Like the grass, all men shall wither.

Wither, wither, with or without.

Misfortune, creeping up like a snake

Like a dark black storm cloud on the horizon,

Like the grass, all men shall wither

Wither, wither, with or without.

Well, The first man was never heard from again

The second lost everything he had; became a rat among men

The third ate, breathed, and was money; it drove him insane.

And a thousand years later, no one knew their names

Like the grass, all men shall wither.

Wither, wither, with or without.

Misfortune, creeping up like a snake

Like a dark black storm cloud on the horizon,

Like the grass, all men shall wither

Wither, wither, with or without.
