Marissa Morocco
Does anybody know or remember who does a song that's called, I think, "No Turning Back?" I realize there are other songs with this title, and maybe this isn't even the correct name, but it's repeated throughout the song, as the chorus. It's rocky, and I think it's from back in the 70's sometime. I'd forgotten all about it 'til I heard it on the radio today. Naturally, they didn't say who it was after the song was over. I'd really like to know who did this, 'cause I like it. Can anybody help me? Thanks. ::
Elvish
Can you narrow it down any more - maybe provide more lyrics? Who sings it - male or female?
_jr_
I know the Chesterfields did a song called No Turning Back, but I think they're from the 80's Russ Ballard did one called Ain't No Turning Back, but that was waaaayyyy back. I want to say the Buckinghams did one, as well, but I'm not sure.
Elvish
I want to say the Buckinghams did one, as well, but I'm not sure. They did, indeed. I can't find the lyrics for that one or for the one by the Chesterfields.
Uncle Joe
Marissa...welcome to Songfacts. In 1971 a group named Holy Moses issued their first album, "Holy Moses". On that album is a track titled "No Turning Back". I don't know if this is the version you speak of but I hope this helps you. The album also features a great song called "Sad Cafe". Also, in 1971 Mike Heron of The Incredible String Band released his solo debut album "Smiling Men With Bad Reputations". This album's 9th track is titled "No Turning Back". In 1979 Georges Delerue released an album titled "Little Romance" and it featured a song called yep..."No Turning Back". Finally, in 1979 The Michael Stanley Band released an album titled "Greatest Hits" featuring ..."No Turning Back" written by Kevin Raleigh. All of this and more were found at AMG ALLMUSIC Click on and see for yourself. Again, welcome! And good luck in your search.
Marissa Morocco
Thanks for all of your help, everybody. I will check all of your suggestions out. I'm sure between all of them I'll find the right version of this song, and who does it. And thanks for the welcome, Uncle Joe.
Marissa Morocco
Elvish, as far as narrowing it down, it's a male vocal. Unfortunately, I can't think of many other lyrics right now. But, like I said in my post just before this, I'll check out everybody's suggestions. sherb
There was a song called No Turning Back by one of my favourite Aussie bands, The Sherbs, released in the US around 1981. They were a bit of a cult favourite there at the time, so it may be the song you are thinking of. They also got airplay with I Have The Skill and We Ride Tonight. Here are the lyrics, if it helps - No, no No Turning Back I'm letting go You know I've tried to persuade you But I couldn't make you stay You wrote the story And you let it end this way, yes you did I'm short of the distance I'm back where I started from Preparing myself for the sound of the starting gun You've had it your own way You leave me no way out And baby I'll never follow you down To where you're going to Now I can see we're through No, no No Turning Back I want you to know my mind (There'll be No Turning Back) No, no No Turning Back I'm letting go this time You know I'm heading to windward Setting my sails to the sun Freedom is calling and I'll take my chance on the road My journey is waiting I've said all I've got to say This is forever Though I never knew that I could feel this way I only want to say No, no No Turning Back I want you to know my mind (There'll be No Turning Back) No, no No Turning Back I'm letting go this time You know (Chorus repeats, with variations) The song has a strong keyboard presence all the way through, and also rocks a bit!
