1969: No.1 on the US singles chart was "Come Together / Something" by the Beatles, their 18th US No.1. In the UK it was "Sugar, Sugar" by the Archies.

1978: Neil Young's 13th solo album, Comes a Time goes gold.

1986: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band's Live / 1975-85 started a seven week run at No.1 on the US album chart.

1995: Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar married model Kari Karte.

1929 - Dick Clark was born in Mount Vernon, NY.

1960 - The Beatles performed at the Kaiserkeller in Hamburg for the last time.

1979 - Rock band Pink Floyd release the mega-selling rock opera The Wall.

1992 - Colombian authorities banned huge rock concerts following a riot after a Guns N' Roses show in Bogota.

1994 - The Beatles' "Live At The BBC" was released in Britain and continental Europe. It's North American release came six days later.

1996 - Herbert Khaury, otherwise known as Tiny Tim of "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" fame, dies of cardiac arrest at the age of 64.

2002 - Oasis is forced to postpone its remaining two German tour dates when frontman Liam Gallagher sustains injuries to his mouth and teeth in a Munich hotel brawl.

1963: With The Beatles became the first million selling album in the UK.

1969: David Bowie, The Graham Bond Organization and Dusty Springfield performed at a fund raising show in London for youth magazine Rave .

1972: Wings released "Hi, Hi, Hi," which was banned from the BBC because of its "unsuitable lyrics." However, the song was a hit, making #5 in the U.K. and #10 in the U.S. in early 1973.

1974: The Eagles' "Best Of My Love" is released.

DECEMBER 1: Summer officially commences Down Under today.

1960 Elvis holds #1 in US and Australia with "Are You Lonesome Tonight"; also in UK with "It's Now Or Never" which becomes the fastest Million selling single there. It sold over 20 million copies worldwide. Not bad for a reworking of an 1899 Italian song "O Sole Mio"! :angel:

1961 - Brian Epstein met with Decca representatives to discuss a deal for the Beatles.

1968 Janis Joplin makes a final appearance with Big Brother & the Holding Company.

1969 - "Magic" Sam Maghett, the Chicago bluesman best known for his 1964 recording of "High Heel Sneakers," dies after suffering a heart attack in Chicago. He was 32.

1971 - John and Yoko release "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" in the U.S.

1977 - The album "Elvis Country" was certified gold by the RIAA.

1987 - A Kentucky teacher lost her appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court over being fired for showing her class Pink Floyd's "The Wall." The court decided the film was not suitable for minors due to language and sexual content.

1951: Blue Oyster Cult member Eric Bloom is born.

1978: British new wave music-hall rocker Ian Dury releases his biggest hit single "Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick." It will reach Number One in the U.K. and sell two million copies worldwide without entering the U.S. chart.

1982: Michael Jackson's Thriller album was released, it spent 190 weeks on the UK album chart and is the biggest selling pop album of all time, with sales over 40 million.
