Christmas Songs...

I'm compiling songs for a Christmas cd. I have the typical Mariah Carey, She Daisy stuff, but looking for other songs that you might like, but I'm not aware of. Searching for these on Google or any place else just gives me oodles and oodles of different songs, and not many answers that I'm looking for.

So just let me know what your favorite songs are, old or preferably new, and I'll check them out. Thanks and have a great holiday season!

Santa baby - Eartha Kitt

Sleigh ride - Ella Fitzgerald

It must have been old santa - Harry Connick Jr.

Jingle Bell Rock - Bobby Helms

Little Saint Nick - The Beach Boys

Winter Wonderland - Leon Redbone

Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley

Santa Claus is coming to town - Eddy Arnold

Baby it's Cold Outside - Leon Redbone/Zoey Deschanel

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Frank Sinatra

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow - Lena Horne

Baby, It's Cold Outside - Dean Martin

Whatever you do - for the sake of everyone there, do NOT include anything by Boney M on that CD!

::

Here's a link of every possible Christmas compilation - sure you'll find quite a few songs there :D

One of my favorites for not being over-played and a little unusual too is " The Little Drummer Boy" - duet by Bing Crosby and David Bowie. It's from one of Crosby's Cristmas specials that aired ~ ' 73. There 's a little chatter (on most recordings) before the song that you may or may not want to keep, but a lovely tune.

Also, if you can get any Elvis Christmas stuff, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Again, if your like me ,a big plus is because it isn't heard as often on shopping mall/ etc. muzaks-- which can get a little grating by the time the season winds up ! :: :elvis:

My alltime "rock" XMAS song is "I Believe in Father Christmas" by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. Some others worth checking out:

Christmas Eve in Srajevo - Transiberian Orchestra

The Jethro Tull Christams Album came out last year and is very good.

Anything on the Alligator Records Christmas Collection, especially Koko Taylor's "Merry Merry Christmas" - for some bluesy Christmas tunes.

This one is old and from my childhood.I still love it though.

THE CHIPMUNK SONG (CHRISTMAS DON'T BE LATE)

(Bagdasarian)

David Seville & The Chipmunks - 1962

All right you Chipmunks! Ready to sing your song?

-I'll say we are!

-Yeah!

-Let's sing it now!

Okay, Simon?

-Okay!

Okay, Theodore?

-Okay!

Okay, Alvin? Alvin? ALVIN!

-OKAY!!!)

Christmas, Christmas time is near

Time for toys and time for cheer

We've been good, but we can't last

Hurry Christmas, hurry fast

Want a plane that loops the loop

Me, I want a hula hoop

We can hardly stand the wait

Please Christmas, don't be late.

Okay fellas get ready.

That was very good, Simon.

-Naturally.

Very good Theodore.

-Ahhh.

Ah, Alvin, you were a little flat, watch it.

Ah, Alvin. Alvin. ALVIN!

-OKAY.)

Want a plane that loops the loop

I still want a hula hoop

We can hardly stand the wait

Please Christmas, don't be late.

We can hardly stand the wait

Please Christmas, don't be late.

Very good, boys

-Lets sing it again! Yeah, lets sing it again!

No, That's enough, lets not overdo it

-What do you mean overdo it?

-We want to sing it again!

Now wait a minute, boys

-Why can't we sing it again?

-[chipmunk chatter]

Alvin, cut that out..Theodore, just a minute.

Simon will you cut that out? Boys.....

i used to do panto when i was younger and one year we did a christmas song medley which was rocking around the christmas tree, jingle bell rock, and then an instrumental of sleigh ride. we had these gorgeous short red dresses with white fluff trim on the hem and cuffs and pillbox hats with curled hair. i can still remember the choreography - happy days... :)

i also love santa baby, played it at a christmas gig once and now i'm made sing it at every christmas party! great song!

peaches your christmas selection rocks, i love adam sandler and jack black!

I love Ray Stevens' version of "Santa Clause is Watching You." I think he does two similar versions of the song with slightly different lyrics, one more for kids and one not. Anyway this one is the one I prefer.

I'm really tempted to drive down to Branson to see his Christmas show, but I know I would never be able to convince anyone to go with me! ::

Some others worth checking out:

Christmas Eve in Sarajevo - Transiberian Orchestra

I'm interested in seeing this concert, it appears to be very well maintained & enlightening & looks promising. TYG, I notice your also from "the Valley" ; when I checked the tour dates, I noticed the greater Phoenix Metro was omitted :( There must be some reason for this ?
