windy1
I don't know Sammy, that would kind of open up yourself up to possoble debate amongst a lot of people. I don't doubt but... Please add me to the invitation list, cause if that's the first dance song, It'll be one he## of a reception! Ironman
windy1
Sorry Angel ~~ you asked a perfectly nice question, you desevre a perfectly nice answer. I think you guys need to listen to some stuff together, and pick something that has lyrics that mean something to you both. Don't worry too much if it's appropriate for your guests, or if it just sounds pretty. They will forget it by tomorrow, you two will have it for the rest of your lives. I think it's an important statement. ok ~ i'll stop gushing now. ::

Jenny
When my wife and I got married, we met in the middle of the dance floor, held each other close, gazed lovingly into one another's eyes, then Glenn Miller's "String of Pearls" kicked in and we started jitter-bugging. No one knew it was going to happen but us and the DJ. Brought the house down. Just a suggestion. My husband and I kind of did the same thing...we danced to "Pride and Joy" by SRV. Nobody expected us to dance to a fast song, but by the end, everyone was clapping along. As for a wedding song that "stands out", I think most are overdone, so just pick any song that has meaning for both of you and not the "song of the moment" and you won't regret it later. Tenacious_Peaches
That's funny, I just watched an episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond" yesterday about Ray's brother's wedding. His first dance with his new bride was Elvis' "A Little Less Conversation". They danced like a couple of mad chickens...it was hilarious! ::

MarcM
Our first dance was a song by Tom Waits called "Little Trip To Heaven (On the Wings of your Love)." A very romantic song off of the album Closing Time. If you have not heard Tom Waits sing before, you may want to listen to it together since he kinda has that drinks a lot, smokes a lot cocktail lounge singer voice that I love so much, but others are not so fond of. Here are the lyrics: Little trip to heaven on the wings of your love Banana moon is shining in the sky I feel like I'm in heaven when you're with me I know that I'm in heaven when you smile Though we're stuck here on the ground I got something that I've found, and it's you I don't need to take no trip to outer space All I have to do is look in your face And before I know it I'm in orbit around you Thanking my lucky stars that I found you When I see your constellation, you're my inspiration And it's you You're my North Star when I'm lost and feeling blue You're my sun that's breaking through, it's true And all the other stars seem dim around you I thank my lucky stars that I found you When I see your smilin' face I know nothing' gonna take your place And it's you, and it's you, and it's you, and it's you, and it's you, and it's you Scoobidy do wah.... MuzikTyme
My wife (fiance then) and I took months of ballroom dancing to perfect our steps to the timeless and beautiful instrumental Fluff by Black Sabbath. It was perfect.
djjram
How about "At Last" by Etta James? It's a little less cheesy than the first dance I've heard at some weddings. (like Can't Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon! Yeesh!) And brushing up on your ballroom dancing moves is a great idea, too. Good luck and best wishes! Megan26581
We have chosen a ColdPlay track called Green Eyes. Honey you are a rock Upon which I stand And I come here to talk I hope you understand The green eyes Yeah the spotlight Shines upon you And how could Anybody Deny you I came here with a load And it feels so much lighter Now I've met you Honey you should know I could never go on Without you Green eyes Honey you are the sea Upon which I float And I came here to talk I think you should know The green eyes You're the one that I wanted to find And anybody who tried to deny you, Must be out of their minds 'Cause I came here with a load And it feels so much lighter since I met you Honey you should know, That I could never go on Without you Green eyes, green eyes, ohohoh... Honey you are a rock Upon which I stand. :guitar:

MuzikTyme
I've always thought The Platters sang the perfect wedding song: ~Only You~ Only you can make this world seem right Only you can make the darkness bright Only you and you alone Can thrill me like you do And fill my heart with love for only you Only you can make this change in me For it's true, you are my destiny When you hold my hand I understand the magic that you do You're my dream come true My one and only you Only you can make this change in me For it's true, you are my destiny When you hold my hand I understand the magic that you do You're my dream come true My one and only you Well, it was perfect in So I Married an Axe Murderer.
