"FM" (1978): NOT the inspiration for "WKRP in Cincinnati"?

One evening, I was tuned to TBS when the movie "FM" (1978) played. It had been some years since "WKRP in Cincinnati" had gone to syndication heaven, and the similarities between Q-SKY and WKRP just jumped off the screen. I've read that this movie was a flop at the box office, which was a relief for the series creator. So, what do you think, are the similarities a tad too close?

Is QSKY's "Mother" sorta like WKRP's "Venus Flytrap"?

FM was definitely the inspiration for WKRP. What's amazing to anyone who worked in radio is how accurate they were, although WKRP often showed the announcers working without headphones.
