edna
I just remebered... a friend of mine needed to explain to her ex that he couldn´t go on like this... he send her a tape with music and the song that made her really laugh and reconsider was this one: Lovesick Blues I've got a feelin' called the blues Oh Lord, since my baby said good bye I'd don't know what I'm gonna do All I do is sit and sigh Oh, Lord the last long day she said goodbye Well Oh lord I thought I would cry She'll do me she'll do you She's got that kinda lovin' Lord I love to hear her When she calls me sweet daddy Such a beautiful dream I hate to think it´s all over I lost my heart it seems I've grown so used to you somehow And I'm nobody´s sugar daddy now And I´m lonesome I've got the lovesick blues Well I'm in love I'm in love with a beautifull gal Thats what´s the matter with me I'm in love, I'm in love with a beautifull gal But she don't care about me Lord I've tried and tried To keep her satisfied But she just wouldn´t stay And now that she's leavin' This is all I say I've got a feelin' called the blues Oh Lord, since my baby said goodbye Lord I don´t know what to do All I do is sit and sigh That last long day she said goodbye Oh Lord, I thought I would cry she'll do me, she'll do you She's got that kind of lovin' Lord I love to hear her when she calls me sweet daddy Such a beautiful dream I hate to think it´s all over I lost my heart it seems I´ve grown so used to you somehow And I'm nobodys sugar daddy now And I´m lonesome I've got the love sick blues Yeah I´m lonesome i've got the love sick blues version: Arlo Guthrie. It worked! Girls are very sensitive to this kind of things. My suggestion is "Till the next time we say goodbye" Rolling Stones.
bluesboy
Edna suggested a popular Hank Williams cut with Lovesick Blues I'll follow with another made famous by Hank Williams('51) and Linda Ronstadt('74)- I Can't Help It (If I'm Still in Love With You) also Elvis - Are You Lonesome Tonight? and Edna mentioned Sinatra... That Old Feeling maybe some Otis Redding - I've Been Lovin' You Too Long Jerry Butler - Never Give You Up on the blues side - Jimmy Johnson When My First Wife Quit Me The Persuasions - It's You That I Need Elvis - Teddy Bear

edna
Bluesboy, "I´ve been loving you too long" is the top of all the sugestions. I´m nearly crying just remembering it (mainly coz I have all my records packed and I can´t listen to most of my music right now!!!) Tina Turner, Rolling Stones and specially, of course, Otis Redding made the best covers.
bluesboy
Edna, When you unpack and listen to your records, put Otis on first, and play it Loud!

SoulGirl
Track Seven on 'Grace'. It's called 'Lover, You Should've Come Over' Looking out the door I see the rain fall upon the funeral mourners Parading in a wake of sad relations as their shoes fill up with water Oh maybe I'm too young to keep good love from going wrong But tonight you're on my mind so let me know Broken down and hungry for your love with no way to feed it Where are you tonight, child you know how much I need it Too young to hold on and too old to just break free and run Sometimes a man gets carried away when he feels like he should be having his fun Much too blind to see the damage he's done Sometimes a man must awake to find that really he has no-one So I wait for you and I burn Will I ever see your sweet return Oh will I ever learn Oh, lover you should've come over, Cos it's not too late. Lonely is the room, the bed is made, the open window lets the rain in, Burning in the corner is the only one who dreams he had you with him. My body turns and yearns for a sleep that won't ever come. Oh it's never over, My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder It's never over, All my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against her. It's never over, All my blood for the sweetness of her laughter. It's never over, She's the tear that hangs inside my soul forever. Oh but maybe I'm just too young to keep good love from going wrong. Oh, lover, you should've come over. Yes, I feel too young to hold on I'm much too old to break free and run Too deaf, dumb and blind to see the damage I've done Sweet lover, you should've come over And lover I wait for you. Lover, you should've come over Cos it's not too late. You have to hear the way he sings it, with such feeling and passion. His voice is just dripping with emotion and the arrangement is gorgeous. Btw I don't know anything about your situation but I always find it's better to break free of someone who makes you feel so low. Good luck and best wishes to you, and don't forget to listen to some happy songs too!
DiggsUK
I'd agree with that, Gisela. For another try Tim Buckley - 'Sweet Surrender' of the 'Greetings from LA' album. It will burn into your soul! Regards
