MindCrime Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 The other night, I spent the night at my longtime ex-girlfriends house, now I'm coping with the usual second day sickness, grief as well as anticipation. I felt the original flame relight during the passionate night & now I need a few good songs that are about falling in love, burning up for someone, & wanting a second chance. Not so much the schmaltzy stuff like Kirk VanHouten ? ?Can I Borrow a Feeling.? Thanks for any input.
edna Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 "Ain´t too proud to beg", Temptations. I prefer the Rolling Stones version. "We´ve got a groovy thing going, baby" Simon & Garfunkel. "Let me try again" - Frank Sinatra
edna Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 "Ain´t too proud to beg", Temptations. Better, Rolling Stones. "We´ve got a groovy thing going, baby" Simon & Garfunkel. "Let me try again" - Frank Sinatra If it doesn´t work, "I will survive", Gloria Gaynor. Oh, sorry, I couldn´t resist to make a bad joke... Hope things get the way you want.
edna Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 ____, I´ll try to look for a tape I recorded for my second divorce, the "A" face is full of songs of hope. I´ll see if I can recall where the"·$%&@#¢? I put this tape...
Eggplant Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 "Can I Borrow A Feeling".... Speaking of burning, here's a haunting song that I've always loved - "I Burn For You" by Sting. The original version can be found on the Brimstone and Treacle soundtrack. There's also "Burn For You" by INXS. A song about second chances that comes to mind is "A Murder of One" by Counting Crows.
Uncle Joe Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 *Light My Fire...The Doors *Burning For You...Blue Oyster Cult When She Was My Girl...The Four Tops Gimme A Little Sign...Brenton Wood Zoom...Fat Larry's Band *(I'm Just A) Fool For You...Gene Chandler Mind, Body And Soul...Flaming Ember Drowning In A Sea Of Love...Joe Simon (or Boz Scaggs) I Love The Way You Love...Marv Johnson *Cakewalk Into Town...Taj Mahal Get Me...Everything But The Girl Lie To Me...Johnny's Dance Band Someday, Someway...Marshall Crenshaw You'll Never Find (Another Love Like Mine)...Lou Rawls No Matter What...Badfinger Soul Deep...The Boxtops SeeSaw...Don Covay Going In Circles...Friends Of Distinction Back In The Saddle Again....oops, sorry. That's just not right. Peaches made me do it. *Faves.
edna Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 "Stand by me" works, though it´s not about second chance.
Elvish Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 What about PM Dawn's "Die Without You." It's a good song and I think it expresses some of those emotions. Good luck, MC___ - hope it works out for you.
Elvish Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 Also: "Bell Bottom Blues" by Clapton, "What It Takes" by Aerosmith & "Still Loving You" by the Scorpions.
edna Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 "Still Loving You" by the Scorpions. What a song...! It was one of my favourites until something very bad happened... now it reminds of that, I can´t listen to it (in fact, I don´t)
Tenacious_Peaches Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 Back In The Saddle Again....oops, sorry. That's just not right. Peaches made me do it.
XXX Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 A lot of Chris Isaak songs Try: "Can't Do A Thing (To Stop Me)" and "Wicked Game" There's also an all-time favourite of mine: "A Smile In The Crowd" by The Durutti Column You turned me away Away from your actions Forced by the violence That always surrounds you I want your special smile A smile in this crowd I want your special smile A smile in this crowd You burnt yourself out In that silence I have to tell you I ache for you still The sound of my words Is always so shocking They get much louder Each time I speak I want your special smile A smile in this crowd I want your special smile A smile in this crowd Signals of progress We're growing much older I'm afraid that I'll leave And my ache never goes I want your special smile A smile in this crowd I want your special smile A smile in this crowd And, last, but not least, there's also Coldplay's "The Scientist"
MindCrime Posted October 13, 2004 Author Report Posted October 13, 2004 A lot of Chris Isaak songs Try: "Can't Do A Thing (To Stop Me)" and "Wicked Game" Off Topic (& I apologize) but what was the name of the hit he had in 1995, the video featured him on a beach & showed a glimpse of a very attractive woman, who's remained in my thoughts ever since. Ton of thanks, if you can help. edit: Good luck, MC___ - hope it works out for you. Thank you Elvish, and I strongly agree about "What It Takes" not only does it cover the topic pretty well, but the music sets the right mood of regret & hoping for things to go back to how they were.

Ton of thanks, if you can help. It was 1989's "Wicked Game"

XXX Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 "Back For Good" by Take That (boy group o' da past ) I guess now it's time for me to give up I feel it's time Got a picture of you beside me Got your lipstick mark still on your coffee cup Got a fist of pure emotion Got a head of shattered dreams Gotta leave it, gotta leave it all behind now Whatever I said, whatever I did I didn't mean it I just want you back for good Whenever I'm wrong just tell me the song and I'll sing it You'll be right and understood Unaware but underlined I figured out this story It wasn't good But in the corner of my mind I celebrated glory But that was not to be In the twist of separation you excelled at being free Can't you find a little room inside for me Whatever I said, whatever I did I didn't mean it I just want you back for good Whenever I'm wrong just tell me the song and I'll sing it You'll be right and understood And we'll be together, this time is forever We'll be fighting and forever we will be So complete in our love We will never be uncovered again Whatever I said, whatever I did I didn't mean it I just want you back for good Whenever I'm wrong just tell me the song and I'll sing it You'll be right and understood I guess now it's time, that you came back for good
Costellogirl75 Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 And just what is wrong with Kirk Vanhouten? A man that managed a cracker factory can have deep rooted emotions you know. I suggest Melissa Ethridge "Come to my Window" and Maroon 5 "She Will Be Loved"
MindCrime Posted October 14, 2004 Author Report Posted October 14, 2004 XXX, it was a follow up in '95, I keep wanting to say "Nobody Knows" but that was by the Tony Rich Project. I can easily look this up. edit: Somebody's Crying
edna Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 MC, you´ll find two songs you were looking for in Music Discussion-Sad Songs. Hope it fits you!
MindCrime Posted October 14, 2004 Author Report Posted October 14, 2004 Ok Edna, I'll go check it out And just what is wrong with Kirk Vanhouten? A man that managed a cracker factory can have deep rooted emotions you know. I suggest Melissa Ethridge "Come to my Window" and Maroon 5 "She Will Be Loved" Heh, he came off too strong on that episode, but winding up losing. IMO Funniest part is when his producer takes the cassette & his keys, says she's gonna change wigs & then drives off & runs over the tape. I hear that Maroon5 song all the time, I've had it stuck in my head for some time now, not bad either.
mermista Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 As far as second-chance songs go, I'm a huge fan of John Mayer's "Back To You" (but then I'm a huge fan of pretty much all John Mayer's stuff... except his new album, I was disappointed... anyway, rambling, sorry) For burning love I'm gonna have to go with "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel. I love that song. Um... my brain hurts, I can't think right now.
_jr_ Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 The Ultimate Song For just Such An Emeregency: Baby Come Back ~ Player Go get her, boy!

MindCrime Posted October 16, 2004 Author Report Posted October 16, 2004 At the risk of being pelted with slices of Velveeta And waste perfectly good cheese? I'd rather just dump pouring hot cheeze-whiz. Just Kidding Costello
