gizmopop
One of my favorite Harrison songs. The info on this song suggests that Harrison played the guitar solo, yet the style of the solo is uncannily like Clapton. We know that Harrison has used Clapton before. Does anyone have the absolute skinny on this? Thanks...
edna
I know it was recorded in a couple of days and was the B side of "ballad of J&Y", but I never heard of who was playing. Try Google, there´s plenty of Beatle info in the web.
edna
Hi, have you tried Google and others? I checked my info & books and all kind of webs, and they say everywhere that OLD BROWN SHOE was recorded just by the four beatles...
gizmopop
Hey Folks, Thanks for the replies. I've googled this a bit and it is starting to look like this is indeed Harrison's own guitar solo- probably one of the best he's ever done both technically, compositionally and expressivly. Old Brown Shoe is a great song, and probably one of the more underrated Harrison compositions. Even the lyrics, not always Geoge's strong suit, are delightfully cryptic, inventive, colorful, visceral and lustful. Rhythmically, the use of the blusey "reverse shuffle" renders the tune excitingly propulsive.
