"No, you didn't hurt me." she replied, "I was just scared."

"That's good. I was scared, too. Still am, to be honest."

He looked at her, expecting to see her rush for the phone. She simply stared at him seemingly trying to fit the pieces together.

"Uh, okay. I'm sorry again for all this. I'll go and you can call the police. Just give me a bit of a head start. It probably won't matter much since they're already trying to find me."

As he neared the back door she asked "Why do they want you? Do you break into houses every day?"

He stopped. Stood a moment, then turned, head dropping, "This is actually the first one." Lifting his head, with a partial grin he remarked "I guess I'm not very good at it."

She couldn't help but chuckle. Her tormentor was hardly capable of a simple break and enter. She doubted highly that he could be of any physical threat.

Seeing her enjoyment of his inept criminal abilities only widened his grin.

Still smiling she told him "I'm not calling the police. You don't need to run yet."
