Pulling up to the old house

To see the drapes open wide

Now approaching I can feel

Lone woman's presence inside

Knowing the woman quite well

We have a long history

Yet lately she's been hiding

Her reasons a mystery

Deciding it's time we talked

Paying her a quick visit

I know how to persuade her

I'll only need a minute

Her expression is surprise

Finding me at her front door

Smiling she invites me in

Young lovers we were before

Asking only one question

She avoids answering me

The answer I seek is there

Hiding in her eyes I see

Calmly asking her again

Saying she fears everyone

I tell her that all is fine

Tears fall as she sees the gun
