"Okay. Like I said before I really don't want to hurt you. I understand if you don't believe me. I wouldn't either if I were in your shoes. I just got really scared. I thought nobody was home." He sounded close to tears. She realized he truly was worried, perhaps scared, hence the constant changes in his voice."You've been really good about this and I feel I can trust you. I'll let you go and if you want go ahead and call the police. I was just hoping to take something to eat and fill my canteen with water before heading back on the road. You surprised me and I panicked. I'm really sorry. I'll just run away so you can call the cops. I hope I didn't hurt you when I grabbed you like that." With that he pulled away. She turned in time to see the man tucking a large spoon into his long coat.
