donfleek 0 Posted March 21, 2015 Report Share Posted March 21, 2015 More complex melody is prevalent in the southern part of Nigeria and solo musicians use musical instruments while polyphonic wind ensembles are common in the northern part of the country, single-line music also known as monodic is what the great north province is familiar with which is associated with Islamic music because high percentage of the people living in ths region are Muslims. Yoruba music has become the most important component of modern Nigerian Music , as a result of its early influence from European, Islamic and Brazilian forms.
