Steel2Velvet
A master of the fretless bass, he was one of the bass line/riff innovators for all those who came after, expanding the capacity of his instrument from the narrow world of beat keeping to melodic lines that wound around Clapton's lead guitar. JumboXL
Sad news. Just last week I was listening to Cream live recordings and wondering if ever someone managed to sing and play powerful basslines in one effort as he did... CanAm
A fellow Scotsman. He was not only an amazing bass player, but an accomplished pianist, a classically trained cellist and an underrated vocalist. He was also the co-writer of most of Cream's hits. He died too young. R.I.P. They must have one helluva band in heaven.
