andy7
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011), 7/10 Maggie Smith plays Professor Minerva McGonagall in the last film of the Harry Potter series, in which the clashing of good and evil comes to a head. She shows an impressive amount of fervour in her role for someone of her age. --- Charlize Theron
Rayzor
Aeon Flux - 7/10 Aeon Flux is set 400 years in the future, when disease has killed off most of the earth's population except for Bregna, ruled by a congress of scientists. The story centers on Aeon Flux (Charlize Theron), the top operative in the underground "Monican" rebellion. When Aeon is sent to kill the scientists leader, she uncovers secrets which makes her doubt what she thought she knew. Pretty cool concept & she's hot as hell in tight clothes Lots of established actors carried the story along pretty good, but drama was sacrificed for action. Jenny
Ruthless People - 7.5/10 Danny DeVito's wife, played by Bette Midler, is kidnapped for ransom and he doesn't pay in the hopes that the kidnappers will kill her and relieve him of her. The kidnappers, however, are just a down on their luck couple who help Bette find herself again and get her revenge. CanAm
The Santa Clause - 1994 7/10 Judge Reinhold is married to the titular character's ex-wife in this mildly amusing family film. Reinhold is well meaning but socially awkward in this film and pretty much plays a variation of the same character he plays in most movies. Otokichi
The Gunfighter (1950) 8/10A famous pistolero visits a town, and finds that his reputation makes him a target, which gets in the way of the reason for this stop. Seeing Gregory Peck with a thick mustache made me do a double take when I saw it on Turner Classic Movies. This role propelled the actor to the front ranks, which must have rankled John Wayne, who was angling for this role as well. Another great "Adult Western" along the lines of "High Noon.";)Gerard Depardieu

Otokichi
John CarterHe's great in a Jack Elam role, as the pursuing Union Captain in the early part of the movie. I'm not sure why "John Carter" tanked at the domestic box office; maybe there was a lot of sniggering at "Barsoom." It's a great "Alan Quartermain"-like adventure complete with a "stranger in a strange land" twist. The DFX works, for the most part, and the "defeat the nearly-unbeatable enemy and win the princess" plot is/was a sure winner. If there had been giant robots or mechano transformers, instead, more kids would have turned up. ("Edgar Rice Burroughs"? Granddad used to read BOOKS by him!? Why wasn't this an Anime flick?)
